SENIORS
The Seniors made it two out of two with an impressive 2-16 to 1-6 victory at home to Denn on Sunday. Goals in each half from Colm & Philip Smith set the tone and the victory was never in doubt. For a detailed match report, please click here.
Next up is a trip to in-form Lavey @ 7.30pm and after that a home match against Killygarry on Sat 8th May @ 7pm.
JUNIORS
We are told on the radio that seven is definitely more than two. Well this year, the Juniors are finding out that three is considerably harder than four. The Juniors endured another tough day at the office with a 3-14 to 1-8 defeat at home to Cornafean.
There’s no doubt the strength of the Junior panel is being severely tested at the moment and it will be a measure of them all as to how they come through this.
Next up is a trip to Mountnugent @ 2pm on Saturday followed by the opening match of a home double-header against Killygarry @ 5.30pm on Sat 8th.
MINORS
The Minors secured a final place with a super 2-15 to 0-13 victory over Killinkere in Virginia at the weekend. Having lost their opening match to Killinkere this was a super turnaround and their fourth victory in a row.
They now go into the final in great form, but it will be needed, as their opponents, Lacken, have a 100% record so far. The final is scheduled for 12pm in Lavey on Saturday but just keep an eye on here as it may changed.
UNDERAGE
The 16s suffered a narrow defeat to St. Joseph’s on Tues by 0-12 to 1-7. They have a bye week this week (as far as I can tell anyway) with their next outing away to Crosserlough on Tues 4th May @ 7pm.
The 14s lost their second match of the season last week when Lacken emerged victors by 5-8 to 3-9. A strong opening half saw the young Stars lead by 1-6 to 1-3 at halftime but an opening double goal blitz by the Celtics put them in control and they never looked back after that. This week sees them host Cavan Gaels on Thursday with a trip to Bailieboro the following Thursday (6th).
The 12s gained their second victory in their blitz-based league during the week after a trip to Denn. They will look for the hat-trick on Wednesday evening when they host Bailieboro before a trip to Virginia next Monday evening.
The 10s are training away and the prep blitzes for their big Newry Blitz in June (The 10’s All Ireland) will be starting up next month. The 8s had their first outing on the 3G pitch in Breffni at the weekend and picture and report will be up on here shortly.
Still no word on the Girls I’m afraid….
LOTTO
There was no winner or Match 3’s in this week’s Lotto. The winning numbers (or not as the case wase) were 11, 22, 24 & 27 (Bonus 10). Next week’s jackpot will be €8,600 (€13,600 including the bonus) and the draw will be in Clarkes on Monday 3rd May. With the jackpot continuing to rise, it could be worth giving iy a go.
