MINORS

The Minors had a home match v Lacken on Sunday morning. Short a number of regulars, they were always up against it and went down by 1-14 to 2-8. For a small report and pictures from the game, please click here.  They have a challenge match away to Corduff this Wednesday evening. Their next match arranged for St. Patrick’s Day has been postponed and re-arranged for Sunday 21st March @ 2pm.

On a related issue, congrats to minor player, Joe Dillon, on winning the All-Ireland Senior Racquetball Singles title at the weekend.  In terms of excuses for not being able to tog out for the club minors, you can’t really have any problems with that!  Well Done Joe.

U-16’s

The 16s compete in the knockout stages of the Christy Shiels Memorial Cup this Saturday on 3g pitch in Breffni.  For details on this, please click here.

TRAINING.

Most teams are up and running at this stage.  Seniors and Juniors training on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8pm.  Minors continue on Wednesdays at 7.30pm.  U-16’s are on Fridays at 8pm.  U-14’s on Sundays @ 11.30am.  U-12’ are on Monday 8th @ 6.30pm and Juvenile Girls are starting on Sunday 21st at 11.30am.

STARS TV

The votes were cast, and despite a late rally for the 1997 Minors (don’t worry lads, we’ll get ye up next) the famous 1990 Ulster Semi v St. Galls was put up on Stars TV. St Gall’s may be preparing for an All-Ireland Final this year, but 20 years ago, they came badly unstuck in O’Raghallaigh Park.

A classic  in every sense, there are many highlights, including us riding out a 1st half storm, some hard, but apparently legal hitting (it’s a different game now), Brendan Farrelly having an absolute stormer (Minors, listen to him, he knows what he’s talking about), Jim & Joe doing what they did, and of course, THAT GOAL….  Enjoy, and  Oh yeah, just remember, that’s us in the white…..  Obviously no 2nd strip in those days, no Star to be seen!!

LOTTO

This week’s draw took place in Dun A Ri House. There was no jackpot winner & five Match 3 winners (Darragh Farrelly, Michael Quinn, Roisin O’Reilly, Ellie Carolan & Sadbh Blake) each won €40 each.  The winning numbers were 05, 07, 20 & 25 (Bonus 26).  The next draw will take place in M&F’s on Sunday 14th March and the jackpot will be €7,200 (€12,200 including bonus).

SCOR

Congrats to the Scor Quizteam of Jim, Joe & John who came third in the County Finals at the weekend in Mullahoran.  Given that Cornafean are regular Ulster & All-Ireland challengers, thrid place, as was also achieved in 2009, was a great showing.
