SENIORS
JUNIORS
The Juniors may have had a great Eddie Murphy cameo earlier this month with two victories in 48 hours. However their attempt at Jack Bauer sadly failed as two matches in 24 hours proved a hurdle too much.
I’ll not go into the circumstances that led to the scenario (we ain’t got the space for that!) however over the weekend the side faced a League Promotion play-off and a Junior B semi on consecutive days. On Friday evening, the side entertained Cuchullains down the park in a play-off for the right to face Mullahoran for promotion to Div 3. A fortuitous early goal give Kingscourt the lead and they never looked back with a super 2-12 to 0-6 victory.
The next evening they faced Castlerahan in Virginia in the Junior B semi, and could just not find the same connection. They trailed from the start and rarely looked like coming out on top eventually coming out the wrong end of a 0-14 to 0-7 score line.
A disappointing result and efforts will have to focus now on the Div 4 promotion play-off against Mullahoran which should be played in the coming weeks. Pictures and match reports from both games are on www.kingscourtstars.ie
The 13’s continue their league campaign with a home match against Crosserlough on Monday (24th) at 7pm. They will be hoping for a much improved showing after their opening round defeat away to Bailieboro. On Mon 31sy, they face a trip to Cavan Gaels in their next match.
JUVENILE DRAW
The Juvenile Club’s annual draw takes place on 11th September with plenty of cash prizes up for grabs. 1st prize is two tickets for the All-Ireland Football Final along with B&B and Evening Meal in Jury’s Croke Park Hotel and €200 spending money. A super prize and well worth buying a ticket for two for and as it’s the juvenile clubs only fundraiser, it’s a cause well worth supporting too.
Tickets for available from all committee members and in plenty of shops in the town (you know who I mean!). I’ve been hearing confidence is high among our neighbours from Meath, so I’m sure plenty of them will be availing of this great chance of securing these highly sought after tickets ahead of the weekend
