SENIORS

After a superb season so far, Kingscourt’s season all boils down to a showdown with Killygarry on Sunday in Kingspan Breffni Park at 3.30pm. Win and were through, lose and were out. Draw, and well we will be relying on Lacken to do us a favour.

However, as the side prepares for the match, the injury concerns continue to mount and the side that takes the field is likely to be much changed from the opening team against Lacken in June.

It is though, in these circumstances, that the true measure of both the panel and the supporters are seen so we would ask for a huge local support to make the trip to Breffni for the match and cheer on the side.  Go on, it’s a lovely road really!  Oh Yeah, Fr. Emmet, if you are reading this, a couple of extra decades of the rosary at the weekend would be much appreciated!!

JUNIORS

Congrats to the Juniors who faced two season-defining games in 48 hours last week and came through both with flying colours. On Wednesday they played out a super game away to Crosserlough in the Championship when a strong finish saw them through by 1-18 to 1-13.  Then just two days later they headed to Ballyjamesduff to face Castlerahan in the league and again gained another five point victory by 2-12 to 1-10.

These victories set up a Junior B Quarter Final away to Gowna or Killygarry probably on Wednesday 12th. In the league they are joint top with a game to go (at home to Knockbride) and right in the promotion shake-up. The final league match is at 1pm on Sunday 16th August.

U-16’s

Next up is the U-16 championship and Kingscourt open their campaign on Tuesday 11th August at the Quarter-Final stage where they face a tricky trip to face Division 2 league champions, Gowna.  With a number of this team part of an U-14 side that got knocked out of the championship in Gowna a couple of year back, they will be under no illusions as to the size of the task.

U-13’s

The U-13 league starts on Monday 10th August and Kingscourt open their campaign with a visit to local rivals Bailieboro.  The others teams in the group include Crosserlough, Cavan Gaels and Ramor Utd.  The side play Laragh Utd in a challenge match on Wednesday 5th at home at 7.30pm.
