CLUB DAY

The club will mark the GAA’s 125yr anniversary with a club day on Sunday May 10th. The event will revolve round a blitz competition involved all club grades between 2-5pm. It will kick off with the Brass Band leading the competing teams from Carney’s Field (the original grounds) to the park. All those involved in the parade are asked to be at the Recycling Depot for 12.45pm. We would also ask everyone to wear GAA gear, whether club or county.

During the blitz, the games will be interspersed with exhibitions from all the club’s teams along with lots of fun activities for all the family. Rumours have it that our two new midfielders last seen on St. Patrick’s Day may also make an appearance

Another part of the day will be a display in the pavilion featuring old reports, features and pictures involving the club from throughout the years. There will also be images from the re-designed website (www.kingscourtstars.ie) which will go live during the week. Events actually start the previous evening when there will be a BBQ and a GAA quiz in M&F’s Bar at 8.30pm.

We would invite everyone in the community to attend the day for some part. It promises to be a most enjoyable day for everyone, whether you are involved with the club or not. We would especially ask those both new to the town and also those who were involved in the club in the past to come along. You never know who you might meet!

SENIORS

The Senior’s continue their league campaign with a trip to Killinkere at 6pm on Saturday evening. After enduring an absolute hiding their last year, the side will be doubly determined to atone for that defeat and remain at the top of the division. We would again ask those who have been giving the side such great support, especially at the away matches, to keep up the effort. You can make an evening of it, over to Killinkere for the match and then back to M&F’s for a bit of grub and some craic at the quiz. Sure, how else could you want to spend a Saturday evening!

JUNIORS

The Juniors kept their 100% record in tact with a 2-14 to 3-5 victory over Drumlane last Friday evening making it five wins out of five so far. Ain’t got anything else for ye on that match I’m afraid.

No match this weekend with the Juniors next out on Sunday 17th May with a home match v Ballinagh at 2pm.

JUVENILE

The 16’s went to Castlerahan last week (not Ballyhaise!) and came home with another win 2-11 to 1-6. A great footballing performance from our lads saw them lead 1-5 to 0-2 at halftime and a similar score in the second half saw us comfortably clear before a late Castlerahan penalty narrowed the gap. Joe Dillon & Cian McArdle found the net for Kingscourt but a great team performance all round.

Next up is the visit of Redbridge at 7.30pm on Tuesday 5th when the side will look to make it 4/4.

The 14’s met a strong Ramor side during the week and being without four key players they were always going up against it and Ramor gained a well deserved victory. They face a trip to Terry Coyle Park on Thursday where they play Cavan Gaels as they look for their first victory of the campaign

The 12s also endured defeat when they came out second best against Castletara. They have no game during the coming week.

The Girls U-12s & Boys U-10s continue training at 11.30am on Sunday mornings. The U-8 Boys also continue training at 5.30pm on Wednesday evenings.

WEBSITE

As mentioned above, the re-designed website will go live this week, more than likely closer to the weekend. The address remains www.kingscourtstars.ie. Each team will have their own section and the site is very picture based. New features include a large Gallery highlighting various club events and a ‘You Tube’ style Stars TV. If anyone has any suggestions for the site or even better is willing to help out either updating it or taking pictures for the site from any Kingscourt matches (at all levels), please e-mail us kingscourt.stars@hotmail.com or ring Niall on 086-8237382.

NEW ARRIVAL

Congratulations to Kevin & Sharon Shiels who had their first child last week when little Aoibheann was born. The only question is whether she’ll be wearing a Cavan or Tyrone jersey first? Silly question, you know where you live now!
