JUNIORS
The Juniors opened their Division 4 campaign with a home victory over Drumalee by 0-15 to 0-10 on Sunday. This keenly contested match swung from periods of domination by both sides with the home side making the most of their defences’ miserly display in the first half.
Drumalee came out for the second half with all guns blazing and hit Kingscourt with three unanswered points but Kingscourt lashed back with seven points to lead 0-15 to 0-6 with less than a quarter remaining. Late Drumalee scores narrowed the gap but Kingscurt held on for victory.
Next up is a home match against Mullahoran on Friday night at 8.30pm
Kingscourt opened the second half strongly but only managed three points due to some poor wides. With time running out, the Shamrocks stages a revival and a 1-2 blitz left the scoreline 2-7 to 1-7 with less than 10 minutes remaning.
However, as it a number of games this year, this Kingscourt side showed great character and responded with three further points to stamp out the home side revival and run out comfortable winners come the final whistle.
With their match against St. Joseph’s cancelled they now have a four week break before they finish of the league campaign with a visit to St. Joseph’s and a home tie against Cavan Gaels. However, this victory assures their place in the knockout stages, however they will be looking to maintain their good run ahead of the semi finals.
During the break in the league, Barry Reilly & Thomas Rogers will be part of the Cavan Minor panel taking part in the Ulster League.
Ye may have noticed (or at least I hope someone has!), the club website (www.kingscourtstars.ie) is currently under construction at the moment. We are giving it a complete facelift and on it’s return it will hopefully be a lot more impressive and user-friendly. If anyone has any suggestions for possible items of inclusion, please e-mail us at kingscourt.stars@hotmail.com.
