A.G.M. on Thursday Night

The Club’s Annual General Meeting takes place on tonight Thursday December 4th in the Clubrooms at 8pm. The meeting will review the 2008 season and make plans for next year. Without doubt this playing season just finished has been remarkable. In just our fifth year in the senior grade we reached the Cork Co. Senior Hurling Championship Final for the first time ever. The County Final was a huge occasion for the club. The result, however, was a heartbreaking one point defeat. That loss to Sars was the start of a very bad run of final results culminating this past weekend with a double final defeat. In total we’ve lost 5 East Cork finals and 2 Co. finals in the last eight weeks. The East Cork Junior Football League final and Junior ‘B’ Grade Football final saw us lose out to Carrignavar on the double. We contested both Under-21 championship finals, losing to St Catherines and Fr O’Neills. The past weekend saw us contest two more finals. On Saturday we were well beaten in the Co. Minor Hurling final. Then on Sunday afternoon at home we lost the Junior Hurling League Division 2 final to Midleton. So seven finals and no win in any, tough, tough going surely. The amazing feature was that with the exception of the Co. Minor final, we could easily have won all the other finals!
