COMMUNITY CYCLE
The Crotta Hurling Club held a 25km Supervised Cycle on Sunday 21st August, and it was well supported by the young and the not so young . The cyclists started from Crotta Hurling Club House, Dromakee, Kilflynn and headed off to Quiet roads, passing Lixnaw and Abbeydorney Hurling Clubs and returned to the Crotta Club house, for Tea/Coffee and Refreshments. Thank you to all who supported the community cycle and Especially the 50 cyclists plus who participated in the enjoyable event ,special thanks to our organiser Graham Harris, our motorcycle safety stewards Tom b Mc Elligott Senior, Aidan Sheehan and Justin lynch and Pat lynch in the support vehicle and of course to Annette Nolan who made sure all cyclists were well fed after.

KERRY U-21 HURLERS
Holders Kerry advance to this years All-Ireland U-21 Hurling B Final, with a 0-13 to 0-12 victory over Roscommon, played at Toomevara, Tipperary on Saturday afternoon 20th August in the All-Ireland U-21 B Hurling – semi final. The Crotta hurling club was well represented on the Kerry team by Shane Nolan at full forward scoring 8 points (0-7 frees), Sean Weir at wing forward scoring 1 point, Thomas Quille was also on the panel. Kerry now play Westmeath in the final. Well done lads.

HURLING FIXTURES
County Senior Hurling Championship quarter final on Friday 2nd September at 6.30p.m Extra Time, Crotta will play Abbeydorney, in Austin Stack’s Park, Tralee. On Saturday 3rd September at Kilmoyley will play Lixnaw also in Austin Stacks Park.
County Minor Hurling Championship round 1, on Tuesday 2nd September, Abbeydorney/Crotta will play Ballyduff in Ballyduff

Dancing recommence for this season on Monday 5th September In St.Columbas Centre, Kilflynn. And will continued every Monday night at 9.00 p.m. Plenty of fun and exercise guaranteed. All Welcome.

WEEKLY DARTS
In the weekly darts doubles tournament final in Parkers lounge bar, Kilflynn on Saturday night 20th August. J.P Twomey and Tim O’Halloran defeated Mike Fealy and Richard Parkinson in the final. The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday 27th August at 10.30 p.m. in Parkers lounge bar.

FASHION SHOW
The Kerry Senior Hurling team are delighted to announce a special fundraising Fashion Show, featuring Norma O’Donoghue’s Modelling Agency. The show will take place on the 27th of August at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel.
Proceedings get underway at 7pm with a complimentary champagne reception, a chocolate fountain & cupcakes. The show itself begins at 8pm sharp with models from the famous Norma O’Donoghue Modelling Agency taking to the catwalk modelling some of the latest trends from some of the local fashion houses & businesses. There are also rumours that the hurling squad & management will also display their modelling skills on the night & many of them are excited at the prospect already. Entertainment will be provided by exciting new dance group Sizzle & Stomp & there is an after party till late with DJ Adrain Royle.
There will be a prize for Best Dressed Lady & Best Dressed Man, along with other special prizes on the night. You are urged to come along for a great nights entertainment & watch some of the best known models & hurlers strut their stuff and end the summer season in style. Following on from the Christy Ring Cup success of 2011, all proceeds from the night will go to the holiday fund for the squad. Tickets are on sale at €25, which includes champagne reception, door prize & entry into after party. CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS
Herbert‘s Bar, Kilflynn was the venue for the Crotta hurling club’s weekly lottery draw with a Jackpot of €3,100 .The four numbers picked out of the drum by Independent Observer: Andrew Joyce, Farnborough, Hampshire, England were: 2,14, 19 and 26 on Monday Night 22nd August. However Once again no one came up with the correct combination of numbers and the Jackpot survived for another week. The Lucky dip prizes winner each receives €35: Aidan Shanahan, Tullig, Kilflynn, Mike Leen, Ardfert and Noreen Twomey, The Waterfall, Kilflynn. CROTTA CREST ON THE CLUBROOMS
Thanks to the Kilflynn Cumann of Sinn Fein for sponsoring the painting of the Club Crest on the Crotta club rooms at Dromakee, Kilflynn. The crest was put in place by Alice Quilter, Leam, Kilflynn, A Big thanks goes to Alice who done a excellent Job. HERB GARDEN
Medical Herbalist, Christine Best, will be opening her Herb Garden, in Stacksmountain, Kilflynn, to the public on Sunday 28th August as part of National Heritage Week. the garden will be open from 11am until 6pm with guided tours by Christine and fellow Herbalist, Elly McGregor Hodgkiss at 12noon and 3pm. There will be refreshments and children’s activities available and plants and herbal remedies for sale. The event is free with any donations and proceeds going to the Tanga AIDS Working Group in Tanzania. Further details are available on 086 1939217

SCRAP METAL
Due to the fantastic response to the Crotta fundraising “Free Scrap Metal Collection” has been decided to extend it further. You can now avail of this free service. Help clean up your environment, and at no cost to you. What we want: All types of metal i.e. cars, farm machinery, lead acid car/tractor/motorbike batteries etc, galvanise sheeting, gates, barrows, barrels, buckets, cattle troughs, old tanks, scrap electric cables, copper, lead, aluminium, stainless steel, bikes, motorbikes, old trailers, water pumps, electric motors, wheels, solid fuel stoves, cast iron bath’s etc, even the kitchen sink! It is as simple as this. “If it’s metal and you don’t want it, we want it” lt was another successful week gathering over 3 tonne on Saturday 20th August and more promised. THANKS
Crotta Bord Na Nog club have held two very successful bag packing events at Dunnes Stores in the North Circular Road Tralee and Supervalu Listowel recently. We will would like to thanks everyone who helped with the bag packing and especially to thank Dunnes Stores and Super Valu for allowing us to fundraise. These funds go directly to Bord Na Nog and provide a vital source of funding. Our final bag packing is at Dunnes Stores in the Horan Centre Tralee on Saturday October 1st so we would appeal to all parents of children in Bord Na Nog to volunteer an hour or so bag packing on that day. A reminder of this will be included in the club notes nearer the time.

CYCLE TOUR OF NORTH KERRY
The first annual fundraising cycle of the ‘Ring of North Kerry’ will set off from Finuge GAA grounds on Saturday, August 27 and travel through Listowel, Tarbert, Ballylongford, Asdee, Beale, Ballyduff, Causeway, Kerryhead, Ballyheigue, Ballincrossig, Lady’s Walk and Lixnaw, before returning to Finuge.
Mayor of Kerry, Tim Buckley, will start the cycle at 9.30am, while Minister Jimmy Deenihan, accompanied by lots of local Sportmen and women, will lead out the participants on their tour of North Kerry.
This fund-raising and leisure event is promoted by the local Finuge Freewheelers and Ballybunion Sea Rescue committees and insurance cover is provided for all registered participants. Registration is at the Finuge Clubrooms from 7.30 to 9.30am and there is a choice of 120km or 70km routes. Further details from 087 – 6943005

The Crotta Coiste na nOg hurling club are now running a bonus ball draw, at a cost of €2 per week, you pick out a number and if that number is the Bonus Ball that is drawn in the main draw in the National Lottery draw on Wednesday night, then you receive €50. The winner of draw on Wednesday night 17th August, in Parkers Pub, Kilflynn was Tom Mahony, Tullig, Kilflynn and Thomas Fahey, Ballyhennessey, Lixnaw was the lucky winner in Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn . A line can be purchased in Parker’s Pub and Herbert’s Bar. All money made on this draw goes back into the Underage fund. Best of Luck.
