CROTTA NEEDS YOUR SCRAP METAL
A fantastic opportunity to help your club and help the environment over the next couple of weeks Crotta Hurling Club will facilitate the collection of any scrap metal you may have around your house, farm or business. If you think you could help out with this initiative contact Johnny Hannon 087 4141641, Paul Sheehan on 087 9249190 or John Quinlan 087 1346859 , so please help your club, while getting rid of all that scrap metal taking up space in your farmyards or garages.
We are appealing to all club members and anyone in the wider community to donate anything metal you no longer require everything from waste steel, cars vans batteries anything with metal. We will arrange collection on the first Saturday of each month and will help donors in anyway possible to get rid of your unwanted items.

In the weekly darts doubles tournament final in Parkers lounge bar, Kilflynn on Saturday night 6th August. Eileen Brennan and J.P Twomey defeated Keith Silles and Mike O’Sullivan in the final. Garveys Super Valu Senior County Hurling Championship
Abbeydorney and Ballyheigue will meet on Friday Night next 12th August at 7pm and on Saturday Kilmoyley will take on Ballyduff at 7pm on Sunday 14th August there will be a double header at Austin Stacks Park with the losers round Crotta vs. Causeway at 2pm and Lixnaw vs. St Brendan’s with the losers of this round exiting the Senior Hurling Championship, Best of luck to the Lads in Green and Red.

GATE COLLECTION
Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland will hold their annual Church gate collection next week end Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August at masses in St. Mary’s Church, Kilflynn. Your Support will be appreciated.
All Ireland Minor B Championship
Kerry Minor hurlers lost to Meath on Saturday 6th August in Austin Stacks Park, Tralee on the 2-12 to 0-6 final score line. The Crotta hurling club was represented b Tom B Mc Elligott on the Kerry Team.

LIXNAW GOLF SOCIETY
Society members and their guests travelled to Killarney last Saturday to play the Killeen course for our Captain’s Prize outing . P. J. McAuliffe’s prize was won by Gerald Griffin(17) with a tremendous score of 45 points which was a brilliant performance on this quite testing course . In second place was Fergus Fitzmaurice (15 ) with 34pts. , while James Flaherty (18 ) was third with 32pts. (14 ) . Brendan Keane (14 ) was fourth with 31pts. , while Gary Hogan (13 ) on 27pts. was fifth with Patrick Walsh (23 ) sixth with 25pts. In seventh and eight places were Niall Enright (18 ) and Mick Devaney (16 ) who both had 25pts . The Past Captains prize was won by Roger Hussey (23 ) with 25pts, while the Guest prize was won by Martin O Sullivan (25 ) with 30pts . Danny Caffrey (24 ) won the Front Nine with 14pts and Mike Hickey (16 ) won the Back Nine with 13pts , while Maurice Fahy (10 ) won the Par 3’s prize with 10pts . John Shanahan won the Special Category prize . The outing was sponsored by Paddy Quilter who also hosted the presentation of prizes . The next outing will take place at Ardagh golf course on September 10th

The Crotta Coiste na nOg hurling club are now running a bonus ball draw, at a cost of €2 per week, you pick out a number and if that number is the Bonus Ball that is drawn in the main draw in the National Lottery draw on Wednesday night, then you receive €50. FESTIVAL
The Ballybunion Atlantic sessions Festival kicks off this Friday till next Wednesday .
There is lots of free entertainment on Saturday and Sunday .
The main acts that will appear are Republic of Loose and Jenny Green on Saturday in the big top, also the Wolfe Tones on Saturday in the Golf hotel ,
Jedward twins will hitt Ballybunion with a. Bang on Sunday and on Sunday night Gemma Hayes and Fish go Deep ,
Along with these big acts there will be a twins parade on Sunday and lots of free entertainment on the street .

The Irish Hot Rod Motor Racing Federation is holding the All Ireland Hot Rod Finals 2011 this Sunday the 7th of August at the track in Kilflynn located up by a day in the bog on the Listowel Road.

INTER COUNTY HURLING BLITZ
THE South Kerry Juvenile Hurling Inter-county Under 14 hurling tournament, which was held on Saturday 23rd July in Dr Crokes and Fitzgerald Stadium, was a resounding success.
The participating teams were South Kerry, a Kerry U-14 Development squad, Limerick club Murroe-Boher, Blackrock and Ballinhassig from Cork, and James Stephens from Kilkenny.
Played in ideal hurling conditions our Kerry squads pitted their skills against some of the traditional counties and gave a good account of themselves.
Congratulations to Crotta under 14 hurler, Jordon Conway who was a member of the South Kerry u-14 team who won the shield title with a victory over Murroe-Boher from Limerick in the final.

CROTTA GOLF CLASSIC
The Crotta hurling club held its golf classic at Killorglin golf club on Saturday 30th July. It was a huge success with 48 golfers taking part on the day and over 100 sponsors getting behind the event, we would like to thank all our sponsors for their generous donations and to all the golfers that took part on the day and to anyone that played a part in ensuring its success.The presentation of prizes and B.B.Q was held in parkers bar on Saturday night. The results were: 1st place (56 ¾) David Carney, David McLoughlin, Daryl Carney and Ciaran Kirwan 2nd (57 1/8) Mike Hickey, J.P Hickey, Helen Cronin and Tony Maunsell. 3rd place (58 ¾) Martin Ryan, Paddy King, Vinny Behan and Denis Long. Nearest The Pin: Tom yank Mc Elligott and Longest Drive: Philip Tuomey. There were many spot prizes on the night and thanks to both bars for facilitating the sale of tickets.

ABBEYDORNEY GOLF SOCIETY
On Saturday next 23rd July our Captain Sandy Egan has his Captain’s day in Ceann Sibeal Golf, Ballyferriter. Tee time is reserved between 10:30 and 12.00. All members are requested to be present in good time ensuring everyone gets to play on time. The presentation of prizes will take place at 11.00 that night. All members are encouraged to attend the presentation which should be a memorable night.

LIXNAW GOLF SOCIETY
P. J. McAuliffe, our captain, has his big day on thisSaturday at Killeen golf course in Killarney . Society members will have the privilege of playing where the Irish Open took place last weekend while competing for P.J.’s Captain’s Prize . This will be a Singles Stableford competition and the first tee will be reserved from 11.00 – 12.40 . Come along and avail of the opportunity to play this splendid golf course.

DART EXHIBITION NIGHT
There was a darts exhibition in Parker’s Pub, Kilflynn on Friday 29th July in Parker’s front bar, Kilflynn on Friday 29th July at 8.30p.m . With No 2 professional B.D.O Player Dean Winstanley (England) and his girlfriend Lorraine Farlam (England) who is No 4 in B.D.O professional women’s rankings. The two professional darts players play members of the public on the night.
