GOOD NEWS
There was good news for the people of Kilflynn with the allocation announcements from the NRA last week. The realignment of the road from Rae to Upper Tullig received an allocation of €1,000,000. This stretch of road has seen a number of serious accidents especially at Rae Junction so news of the funding is warmly received. A lot of hard work went into getting this funding and special mention has to go to Deputy Jimmy Dennihan, Councillor Pat McCarthy and Frank Hartnett Senior Executive Engineer at Kerry County Council.

SEPTEMBER 82 COMES TO SIAMSA TIRE
Following its highly successful run in Abbeydorney in December, “September ‘82” comes to Siamsa Tire Tralee on the 9th, 10th and 11th of February 2011.
Presented by The Group Theatre Tralee, this humorous and edgy play tells the story of the events of the weekend of September 19th 1982, when Kerry were attempting to win 5 All Irelands in a row.
The play is set in a pub in a small north Kerry town and has characters that include fellas scouring the county for tickets, wives none too happy that their husbands are going to the match and staying overnight, pundits trying to predict what the outcome might be, chancers trying to make a few pound from the event and blow ins that have no interest in it at all!
“The play proved very popular with audiences in Abbeydorney and I was delighted with the very positive feedback I have received since” says Ballyduff native Mike O’Halloran who wrote and produces the play. Mike says that a few of the “Men from the Golden Years” are expected to attend some of the performances in Siamsa Tire.
The cast is led by David Hobbert and Mike O’Halloran and also includes Laura Gibney, Leslie Ann Colgan, Sonia Elston, Finbar Canty and Tadhg O’Regan. The play is directed this time round by Joe O’Brien.
“September ’82” runs in Siamsa Tire Tralee from Wednesday 9th to Friday 11th February. Throw in is at 8pm nightly. Tickets are available from the Siamsa Tire Box Office at 066 7123055 or at www.boxoffice@siamsatire.com.
