SCOR NA NOG
The county finals of Coiste Scor na nOg were held on Sunday 5th December in the Gleneagle hotel, Killarney. The Crotta hurling club were represented by Paraic Shanahan, Brid O Sullivan, Sinead O Sullivan, Aoife Mahony and Barry Mahony in the ceol uirlise competition. Four groups participated in this competition and while our group performed their best they did not qualify for the Munster finals. Ballydonoghue were deserving winners in this competition. We would like to express our thanks to the Crotta group for their dedication to practise and have no doubt we will hear more from them in the future, also great credit to Crotta Scor officer Ann Mahony for her great guidance and organising of the team.Congratulation to our neighbouring club St. Senan’s G.A.A Club on their winning performance in the novelty act, and best wishes in the Munster finals. Scor Sinsear and Scor na bPaisti will be approaching in the new year and it is hoped that the people of Crotta will be prepared to participate in these events.

The Kilflynn business community has come together to promote the village this Friday December 10th with five hours of Radio Kerry programming. Francis Jones and Andrew Morrissey will broadcast the 11 to 1 Club and The Afternoon Show (2.30 to 5.30pm) respectively live from Kilflynn. Find out about the history of Kilflynn, the businesses in the village and surrounding area as well as giveaways and entertainment across the day for all ages. Treasa Guerin of Kids Party Club will Entertain the children And at 5.30pm the Kilflynn Christmas lights will be officially turned on!

KILFLYNN CHRONICLE:
There have been great demand for the 12th Edition of The Kilflynn Chronicle Magazine, a parish magazine last published in 2006 that went on Sale on Thursday 2nd December. The magazine has sixty four pages of history, stories and reminiscences, local new, poetry and photographs, both old and new and is a must for everyone interested in local history no matter where you live. Contributions this year include a history of Kilflynn’s creameries. Renowned Irish author Fr. William King recalls attending Kilflynn fair as a child in 1957. Fr. King was born in Kilflynn and is the author of the novels The Strangled Impulse, Swansong and Leaving Ardglass. Paralympian, Roy Guerin, tells of his Olympic sporting achievements. Local contributors include Gerald Byrnes, Stephen Fernane, Victor Hayes and Pat Culhane. The Kilflynn Chronicle is available at local shops and pubs in Kilflynn, Abbeydorney and Lixnaw and at Polymath Books in Tralee. The magazine retails at €8 and all proceeds go to cancer charities.

NEW PLAY: SEPTEMBER 82
A new play September 82, celebrating the historic achievements of the greatest Kerry team will be presented in Abbeydorney Community Centre on Friday December 10th, Saturday December 11th and Sunday December 12th at 8 pm Tickets at the door €10 with free programme. The play is set in a bar in a small north Kerry town and covers the events of the weekend of September 19th 1982 when Kerry were attempting to win five All Irelands in a row.
