On a wet July evening Silverbridge hosted An Port Mor in
B Team
The B Team made the long journey to Sarsfields
on Wednesday night last to play in the first round of the All County B League. Sarsfields ran into an early lead of one goal and two
points before T Mallie opened the visitors account
with a well taken point. Sarsfield kept up the
pressure and added a further two points before Silverbridge were awarded a
penalty which C Traynor dispatched nicely to the
corner of Sarsfields net. Sarsfield
soon replied with a point but Silverbridge replied with three unanswered points
from Connolly, Traynor and young T McKenna
to bring the half time scoreline to 1-7 visitors to
1-4. The second half was more evenly balanced with Silverbridge taking J Burns
to the middle of the field, Jarlath
scored a fine point whilst C Traynor struck another
goal and a long distance point. The game ended
all square on a score line of Sarsfield 1-9 to Silverbridge 2-6. This was a good
performance from an under
Minors
The Minors hosted Dromintee at home on Monday evening last and lost by five points but the score line doesn’t justify the game it was nip and tuck the whole game. In the first attack the Bridge scored a goal from T McKenna and went in at half time leading by a point. They were slow to start the second half and in this time Dromintee conceded 2-2 but the boys kept going and tried hard and were unlucky to have a share of the spoils. This was a good team performance.

Ladies Football
The senior ladies team played another of their re fixtures on Tuesday evening last, they where at home to Grange. The home side started the brighter and played some nice football with some great long range scores. Grange did fight back and got on the score board with a goal, it turned out to be there only score of the first half, The home side came in leading with a score line of 2-08 to 1-0. The Bridge came out fighting the second half and sealed the deal early on with two fine goals; although Grange did try hard they left themselves with too much to do on the night.
