Senior

Silverbridge traveled to Camlough on Friday evening last to play Carrickcruppen in excellent conditions. Cruppen were first on the scoreboard after five minutes but two minutes later Nial Traynor equalized with the first of his six points on the night. Cruppen went two points clear only for Brendan Maguire to narrow the gap with a point from play Cruppen hit the net after 20 minutes to go four ahead but Silverbridge replied with three fine points from Damian McCann, Brendan Bellew and a Nial Traynor free. A defensive lapse let Cruppen in for their second goal followed by a point. Bridge fought their way back again and scored four more points to Cruppens one to leave the half time score 2-5 to 0-9 in favor of the home side.  In the second half Silverbridge really took the game to Cruppen Damian McCann opened the Bridge scoring with a point after two minutes Cruppen replied with two points of their own but by the midway point of the half Silverb ridge had drawn level. Try as they could the Bridge Couldn’t get the lead score as Cruppen scored again on the breakaway. A Nial Traynor point after 22 minutes leveled the match once again, only for Cruppen to go down the field again and take the lead.

This proved to be the last score off the match as Cruppen hung on for victory. On the night the Bridge deserved a share of the spoils but not for the first time this year a one point defeat was our lot. Next match is Friday evening home to An Port Mor at 8pm.

Senior Ladies

The Silverbridge ladies traveled to Clady on Wednesday last, the game was played in very wet conditions. Silverbridge won the toss and played down the hill the first half.  It was the away side that started the brighter and soon got them selves on the score board with a well taken goal, shortly after the kick out they had a second. The Bridge dominated the first half and came in leading with a score line of 4-04 to 0-0. The second half was played at much the same tempo as the first with the Bridge controlling the key areas, some well taken out field points seen the bridge extending there score line, It was a great team performance all round and ended with the away side leaving with the two points. Final score Silverbridge 5-10 v Clady 0-04. Well done girls keep it up.

Match on Tuesday night against Grange .

Under 14

Silverbridge U14 team had a deserved win against Mullabawn on home on Tuesday night.  Despite missing a number of players through holidays, Silverbridge produced a fine performance with all players working very hard throughout what was a keenly contested game.  Mullabawn took an early lead and controlled the early stages over the game, however Silverbridge fought back with goals from Cormac McKinley & Pauric Keating to lead at half time, in the second half despite some Mullabawn pressure the defence worked hard not to concede any goals with and took the chances that came our way in the forwards with some good scores from Aodhan Quinn & Mark Garvey in particular.  Overall this was a great team performance and all players should be proud of how hard they worked on the night to get a result.  Team;K Quinn, C McCrave, D Duffy, C Flynn, B Garvey, C Mulholland, G Rowland, P Reel, P Moley, M Garvey, A Quinn, P Keating, S Watters, P O’Neill, C McKinley.

U12

Our Under 12 boys traveled to Crossmaglen on Saturday to take on the Rangers and although short some players due to holidays turned in a great performance. Although slow to start and going seven points down early on in  the game the team fought back well and as the second half progressed Silverbridge were always looked  the likely winners. On the day everyone played their part especially the subs that came on.

U10’S

After a period of relative inactivity this team had two matches in five days. On Wednesday evening we played Shane O’Neill’s at Keely Park. Perfect conditions led to a good open fast game of football which the ‘bridge youngsters eventually ran out winners. This was especially significant as there were a few new faces making their full debuts in this match. On Sunday we played host to an under strength Mullaghbawn team and again emerged victorious after a sporting encounter. Again it was pleasing to see some of our younger team members performing well in this match. In the absence of further matches this week practice will take place on Thursday at 7 00pm
