Seniors

Our senior team traveled to Newtown on Sunday to play St Michaels in wet and blustery conditions. Silverbridge produced another Jackle and Hyde performance throwing away a five point half time lead against the breeze to snatch a draw at the death. The Bridge got on the scoreboard first with a B Maguire point this was followed by two points for Newtown. Bridge stepped up a gear and replied with six points leaving the half time score 0-7 to 0-2. St Michaels came out in the second half playing against a strong breeze   and scored a goal and two points to leave the sides level after 10mins. Both sides traded points and then St Michaels went ahead by a point with time almost  t up, Bridge scored a point in injury time to leave the full time score SB: 0-11  St Michaels 1-8.  Match next Friday night at Keeley Park against Keady.

B Team

Our B Team traveled to Cullyhanna on Wednesday evening last to play Crossmaglen in the semi final of the B championship. Cross registered the first two points before B Maguire got the bridge on the scoreboard with a point after six minutes. By the midway point in the first half  cross held a five point  to a three lead when Silverbridge were awarded a penalty however this was saved by the Cross keeper. The Bridge scored two more points before half time but cross had added six to their total to leave the half time score 0-11 to 0-5. A great start to the second half from the Bridge resulted in a goal and five points in the opening ten minutes, however Crossmaglen then hit a purple patch and two goals and  a point inside three minutes sealed the game for the rangers. This was an entertaining game full of quality football from both sides. Final score SB 2-10 to CR 2-16

U16

The bridge reached the final of the championship on Thursday with a hard fought and sporting game against neighbours Mullabawn. Both teams settled early and traded scores going into the break four points a piece. Ten minutes into the second half came the break the lads needed with two goals inside five minutes. Both teams battled until the very last with silverbridge holding out to win 2-7 to 0-10. A great performance was put in by whole squad and after all the hard work put in throughout the year this was no more than this squad deserves.
