Silverbridge Harps G.A.C.

Seniors

The Seniors were away to Ballymacnab on Sunday, playing in bright sunshine it was Silverbridge who registered the first score with a goal from L Campbell after a minute. Ballymacnab came back and scored a point from a free. G McGarvey kicked over a 45 to leave a goal between the sides. Ballymacnab went ahead with a goal and a point inside a minute to take the lead. L Campbell replied with two points only for Ballymacnab to equalise after the Twenty five minutes. The first half score ended with a point from C McAvoy leaving the half time score 1-4 to 1-3 in  favour of the bridge after an evening balance first half. Second half started as the first ended point for point and with sixteen minutes gone a B Bellew point left the scores level 1-6 a piece then three unanswered points for Ballymacnab pushed them in to a commanding lead with thirteen minutes to go. At this stage the bridge really dug deep and three points in four minutes levelled the game once again. Ballymacnab scored another point to take the lead once again but the bridge came back and a L Campbell point left the sides level and in a hectic finish a great L Campbell catch which he finished with a point left the bridge going up the road happy as the game ended 1-11to 1-10.

B Team

Our B Team travelled to Whitecross on Wednesday night. Silverbridge were first on the attack and opened their account, with a point from Thomas Mallie. Whitecross replied with two very good points. Silverbridge piled on the pressure and soon opened up a gap in the scoring. With a good supply of ball from the half backs and midfield Silverbridge led at half time 1-6 to 0-3. Whitecross came out in the second half in a determined fashion and soon had our lead reduced too two points. But Silverbridge inspired by N Traynor at centre half back soon opened up the gap again with B Connolly finishing to the Whitecross net. This was a very good all round team performance with the forwards picking off their scores quite well final score Silverbridge 2-12 to 0-13.
