NOVENA SPEAKERS
The final speaker for this years Lenten Novena will be Bishop Michael Smith, at 8pm on April 3rd. All welcome.
The lads played in the final round of blitzes in Carrick on Saturday last. They are well up to the high standards set in Monaghan. Special thanks to Monaghan Hurling Development, to Paul and Stephen, for all of their help with these excellent blitzes. We hope to go to some of the outdoor Monaghan blitzes in Cloghan later in April, more news closer to the time. Next up is a Cavan blitz in Ballymachugh on April 14th. Training on Wednesdays 7.30-8.30 in St.Annes Park, the home of Bailieborough Shamrocks GAA. New players began arriving last Wednesday and we hope to see lots more over the coming weeks. We will have lots of Hurling for them.
Kingscourt;
Willie Gaughan, Cyril McGuinness and Eoin Morrissey HDA for Cavan will be in Kingscourt on Thursday to work with the Stars Under 10 football side introducing them to hurling, some for the first time. Training will be as normal but with different groups getting the chance to play the ancient game. Hopefully this will be the start of something big for hurling in the club.
Under 12/14;
The under 12 league continues this coming week with an away trip to Mullahoran on Tuesday and the visit of Woodford on Saturday. The lads had their final session on the astro last Sunday. They will move to St. Anne’s Park from next week. Very special thanks to Bailieborough Celtic AFC for the use of their first class facilities during the winter. The Under 14s continue their their preparations for Ulster Feilé which is on 28th April. More news on this in the coming weeks.
Thanks;
Thanks to Bailieborough Shamrocks CLG and Bailieborough Camogie Club for their assistance helping to bring hurling to St. Anne’s Park.
Wednesday training; Note to local GAA Clubs;
East Cavan Gaels Hurling Club will from next week have all of their training groups, U8, U10, U12 and U14, training on Wednesday evenings 7.30-8.30 in St. Anne’s Park, Bailieborough. We would hope that for hurling to get its chance to flourish that our local GAA clubs could, where possible, leave Wednesdays free from training and/or matches for these age groups.This will give anyone connected with these clubs the opportunity to play hurling if they wish. There are no clashes of fixtures between football and hurling as the Youth Board ensures that this will not happen.
