AGM

The 2011 Club AGM was held earlier this month in the Club Pavillion. The main changes at the AGM saw the adoption of a new structure that created five new sub-committees which will hopefully streamline the running of the club over the coming years.

In terms of the executive committee, Pat Faulkner was re-elected Chairman, Sean Kieran is the new Secretary, Frank Boylan & Kevin Sheils are Co-Treasurers.

Herbie Shekelton was appointed Honorary Club President with Joe McCaul, Patsy Sherlock, Andy O’Reilly, Brendan Murtagh and Fr. Gerry McCormack appointed as Vice-Presidents.

Other elected members of the committee were Niall Smith (Vice-Chairman), Mary Farrelly (Assistant Secretary), Niall Reilly (PRO), Joe McCarthy (Games Development Officer), Colm Kieran (Ground Development Officer), James Brown (Juvenile Officer), Tommy Reilly (Ground Maintenance Officer), Pat Farrelly (Ladies Officer),  Jim McGovern (Culture Officer), Gabriel Patterson (Registrar), Mattie Kennedy (Insurance Officer), Gary Gogarty (Child Protection Officer) and Philly Smith (Players Rep)

COMMUNITY FORUM

Kingscourt Stars GAA are in the process of putting together a five year strategic plan with the aim of benefitting both the club and the community over this period.

This Friday from 7-9pm the club will hold a community development forum down in the club pavillion to seek input from all members of our community as to how they feel the club could improve for the benefit of the community as a whole.

This is a fully open forum and EVERYONE is invited; Children, Adults, Local Businesses, Organisations and Clubs, whether you are part of Kingscourt Stars GAA or not.

The benefits of the strategic plan for both club and community will be discussed openly on the evening and all input, especially from external parties, are gratefully appreciated, and will be seriously considered before the final plan is completed. The areas of discussion are Games Development, Ground Development, Communications, Finance and Youth Development.

This is the most important project that the club has undertaken since the 1980’s re-development and it is therefore vital that anyone with an interest in your club and your town attend to voice your thoughts on how the club can progress and help the community flourish in these tough times.

2011 CALENDAR

The new 2011 club calendar is still available from Niall Reilly and local shops such as Pat Faulkner’s, M&F’s, Robbie O’Connell’s, Pat’s Shop and McNally’s Pharmacy for just €10 or €15 for two.

The Club Dinner Dance is on Friday 11th February 2011 and will take place in The Bailie Hotel. Tickets are €35 and are available from the usual suspects! The 2010 Senior Championship medals will be presented on the night and music is by The Texas Wildcats.

LOTTO

The winning numbers in this week’s lotto were 18, 20, 24 & 28 (Bonus 06). Once again there was neither any jackpot or Match 3 winners.

Next week’s draws take place in Clarkes on Sunday 16th January and the jackpot will be €6,600 (€11,600 including the bonus).

E-MAIL VIRUS

Over the weekend a number of spam e-mails have circulated from the club’s old hotmail e-mail address. These e-mails are not from the club and include a link which apparently contains a virus.

If you happened to receive this mail, please do not access this link as it may affect your PC or e-mail account. Please note that the only official e-mail address for Kingscourt Stars GAA is info@kingscourtstars.ie . The old kingscourt.stars@hotmail.com address has been dormant for the past 12 months and following these recent mails, it was closed down last night.

Apologies for this and I hope no one has experienced any problems
