SENIORS

The Seniors ground out a super victory away to Gowna last Thursday night.  A tight first half saw us leading 0-6 to 0-5 at halftime but a determined 2nd half performance gave us a long overdue and much deserved victory against the home side by 0-12 to 0-8.

With the Gaels meeting a surprise defeat, this sees us two points clear at the top of Division One while we enter the free weekend.  With four games remaining, a single victory will see us secure a semi-final place for the end of the season.

Fixtures have not issued yet for next month but the next scheduled match is over the opening weekend of July with Mullahoran due to visit O’Raghallaigh Park followed by Cuchullains away the weekend after, however presumably it depends on whether Cavan progress in the qualifiers

JUNIORS

The Juniors suffered another defeat at the weekend as they went down 2-10 to 0-7 away to Ballymachugh on Friday night.  The side now sit just above the relegation zone, however they face a trip to Laragh Utd next Wednesday who are below them.  A win would go a long way to securing Division Three for 2011 but a defeat would see Laragh go ahead of us and put us in the drop positions.

A huge game in every sense and hopefully the side can dig out a victory.  If you can go along to show your support please do so, the World Cup will still be on the next day….

MINORS

With the Leaving Cert winding down now, training should resume for the Minors in the coming weeks ahead of the Minor Championship. After narrowly missing out on the Minor league following a one point defeat in the final, the side will be very determined to go one better in the Championship.

The preliminary details for the championship state that it will commence on Monday 2nd August and play out as follows;  Round 2 11th August, Semi- Finals 18th August and Finals in Div 2, 3, 4  24th August.

Kingscourt will play in Minor Division 2 against six other teams including Killinkere, St. Finbarr’s, Castlerahan, Redbridge, Blackwater Gaels and Eire Og Celtics ( Drumgoon / Cootehill ) .

There is a meeting  Friday night 25th June @ 8pm to go through the format for all championship groupings and the draw for each division will be made.  Further details should be available next week.

 U-16’s

Similar the Minors, with the Junior Cert winding down, the 16’s will be turning their attention to the Championship, after they also lost out on League glory by a very narrow margin and will surely also be determined to go one better.

The side will play in Division 1 of the Championship against six other teams, namely Cavan Gaels, St. Joseph’s , Castlerahan, Crosserlough, Ramor Utd and the winners of Div 2 League.

The preliminary round will be played on July 9th, Round 2 13th July , Semi- Finals 20th July and Finals 27th July .

There is a meeting  Friday night 25th June @ 800 pm to go through the format for all championship groupings and the draw for each division will be made.  Further details should be available next week.

UNDERAGE

The U-13 start their Championship this week with a home match against Crosserlough on Thursday.  The 14s also continue their seven a side competition, I think, but just don’t have the fixtures to hand.

The Girls league campaigns finished off last week.  The 14s narrowly missed out on a play off place after just falling short to a strong Templeport side.  The 12’s finished their campaign with a great victory over Drumgoon and photos from that game will be up on the website later this week.

LOTTO

The lotto will hit €10,200 next weekend (€15,200 including bonus) after it was not won this weekend.  The numbers drawn were 01, 02, 06 & 09 (Bonus 17).  With the low numbers it was no surprise that there was 10 Match 3’s who win €20 each (don’t go mad on it now lads!) Next week’s draw is in Malones on Sunday 27th June.
