Club Notes 16th August 2009

  Our Senior team went out of the Championship in very disappointing circumstances last Sunday in Orchard Park. The score line Elphin 0-05 Castlerea 1-05 tells its own story of a game where scores were extremely hard to come by.
  Once again Elphin started a game slowly, with attacks breaking down. Castlerea adapted to the wet conditions and after 15 minutes were 1-03 to 0-00 ahead. Elphin clawed their way back to leave the half time score 1-04 to 0-3.
  With the wind in their favour for the 2^nd half Elphin would have been optimistic of overtaking their opponents, but a combination of 7 wides and a reluctance to play a quick ball into the full forward line laid the foundation for a 3 point defeat… Elphin outscoring Castlerea 0-02 to 0-01 in the 2^nd half.
  A relegation battle now looms against either Kilmore, Strokestown, or Roscommon Gaels.
