MINORS:

The minors had an extremely hard fought victory on Sunday against Western Gaels in the playoff for the league semi final. Elphin were slow out of the blocks and Western Gaels took advantage opening up a 1-6 to 0-2 point lead, Elphin fought back well in the last ten minutes of the half and trailed by 1-7 to 1-4 at the break. The game was tit-for-tat in the opening period of the second half with both team trading scores. With ten minutes left in the game Elphin got a goal to go a point ahead, and then proceeded to extend that to a 3 point lead. With less than a minute left in the game Western Gaels got a goal to bring the game to extra time, with the score at 2-10 a piece.
Extra time was a tight affair with both teams running on empty but Elphin did enough to take the game by 2-13 to 2-12. Both teams should be praised for producing a high standard of football in difficult conditions.
