Club Notes 17th February 2009

November 8, 2018

Liam Staunton and Joe Brady R.I.P.:

Elphin GAA Club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the Staunton and Brady Families on the deaths of Liam and Joe. Both men played a massive role in our club, as well as in the general community, over the last half century.

Liam Staunton, a former President of the club, and was a great supporter of both Elphin and Roscommon teams. Liam played a huge role in the Clubs Minor board over the years and also won a Scòr all Ireland quiz final in 1972 with Paddy Farrell and Michael Mulleady.

Joe Brady, current joint President with Atty Hynes, held most executive roles in Elphin GAA Club throughout the years including Chairman for many years and was there for the Club through thick and thin.

It would take much more than these few lines to do their contributions justice. May they rest in peace.

Our Seniors lost their 1st League game to Clan na Gael in Johnstown on Sunday last. This was a game that they will feel was left behind as some simple mistakes gifted clan at least 1-03. Final score Clan 1-09 Elphin 0-11. See Website for team list.
Our next league match is next Sunday 22nd Feb v Strokestown in Strokestown at 2pm. Please come out and support.
