Under 14: The Downs V Athlone
Our under 14s travelled to Athlone on Thursday last and had to withstand early Athlone pressure but The Downs began to take control and when we went in front we held the lead and were deserved winners.
Junior Championship: The Downs 2:6 Loughnavalley 0:11
On Saturday evening at home we played our second championship game of the year against Loughnavalley one of the favourites for the title. The Downs stared brightly but failed to make it tell on the scoreboard, Loughnavalley were first to score, a first half goal gave The Downs a halftime lead 1:5 to 0:4. Loughnavalley started the second half by making good use of their possession and drawing level, however The Downs found the net again and held out in an exciting finish to win by the minimum and gain the two valuable points.
