On Sunday evening in our third championship game in Cusack Park. We went into an early lead and at the end of the first quarter were ahead by four points, at halftime our advantage was reduced to two points 0:7 to 0:5.  In the second half Tyrrellspass dominated the scoring and went into an 0:10 to 0:7 lead. The Downs finished the stronger scoring 1:1 without reply to win by a point. Team: Ciaran McCormack, Niall Nolan, Mark Dalton, Stephen Cleary, Conor Carley, Ben Hogan, Sean Loughlin, Brendan Murtagh, John Smyth, Barry Conroy, Luke Folan, Greg Crowley, Tommy Cleary, Noel Molloy, Shane Power. Mullingar Shamrocks were the visitors to Kevin Molloy Park on Saturday morning last for a series of under 8 and 10 matches. Over 80 young footballers were involved in 6 matches which were played in a competitive but sporting atmosphere and well done to all involved. Under 10 panel: Eanna Burke, Jack Carroll, Matthew Cunningham, Liam Faulkner, Jonathan Lynam, Ryan Mannering, Trevor Martin, Cian McCourt, Eoin Mulreid, Oisin Murphy, Oisin Raleigh, Jordan Raleigh Doyle, Luke Smith, David Smyth, Eoghan Egerton, Paul Flynn, Evan Harte, Stephen Haugh, Joshua Heneghan, Luke Maguire, Liam Moran, Mark Nugent, Hugh O’Connor, Jake Quinn, Adam Smith. Thanks to Kevin McGuire and Kevin Smullen for refereeing to their usual high standard. 

In the North Westmeath League, Team Black have an away fixture tonight Wednesday July 21st versus Streete starting at 715pm. All players to at the pitch at Streete Parish Park at no later than 7pm.

On this Saturday morning we have a home game versus Trim starting at 11am. All under 10 players to be in dressing rooms in The Downs no later than 1045am. As always, please reply to text message whether available or not.

 

Club Gear including Togs and Socks can be purchased or ordered at underage training on Fridays. New this year are football gloves with The Downs crest special introductory price €8 for underage and €12 for adult sizes. New polo’s, tee-shirts and wind-cheaters will be available shortly.
