Our second team lost narrowly to Ballynacargy on Tuesday evening. Team: Joe Martyn, Alan Finch, Fergal Finch, Niall Nolan, Conor Carley, Ben Hogan, Cian Carthy, Noel Molloy, David O’Reilly, Kevin Smullen, Stephen Devine, Niall O’Doherty, Trevor McCormack, Mark Price, Shane Carroll, Subs Used: Mark Leavy, Niall Murray.
Croke Park U8 games
The Downs U8 team played Glen Emmet’s of Louth in Croke Park on Tuesday 6th July.
12 players participated in the game which was part of the activity days organized by the Leinster GAA council.
The players who attended were: Gary Cleary, Cian Flaherty, Eoin Rhatigan, Eoin Murray,  Eoin Stephen Smith, Tom Tuite, Anthony Moran, Donal Doherty, Cormac Mullen, Alan Mooney, Christopher Slater and Mickie Moffat.Trainers on the day were Eddie Tuite and Stephen Cleary. They were assisted by Nicky Murray and Jodie Moran.
The players enjoyed the experience of playing in the Croke Park and going up to the cup presentation area afterwards.
Well done to all involved and the parents/guardians that went along too on the day.
Under 10s
Well done to all who travelled to Longford Slashers on Saturday morning to play the home side in a mini-blitz. Thankfully the rain held off until the football was completed and all 4 matches were closely contested. Thanks to the hosts for their hospitality and for providing refreshments afterwards. We hope to arrange a return match in The Downs later in the year. The under 10’s have a home game on this Saturday morning versus Mullingar Shamrocks starting at 1030am – details will be confirmed by text message during the week. Please reply whether available or not – this is particularly important over the holiday period.
Club Gear
Club Gear including Togs and Socks can be purchased or ordered at underage training on Fridays. New this year are football gloves with The Downs crest special introductory price €8 for underage and €12 for adult sizes. New polo’s, tee-shirts and wind-cheaters will be available shortly.
Leinster Fleadh
Congratulations to our Adult and Junior set dancers who won Leinster titles in Dunleer on Sunday and also to our Adult ceili dancers who qualified for the all- Ireland well done to all concerned.
We extend our sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of the late James McLoughlin of Violetstown, Gaybrook, Mullingar, and Tennessee, USA
