Club notes 9th May

Lotto
There was no winner of the jackpot this week. Helena Prunty (Convoy), Rosaleen Houtson (Convoy), Cathal Mc Bride (Convoy) Kieran Gallagher (Ballindrait) and Gerry Mc Elwaine (DVO Raphoe) matched 2 counties and won €20 each. The winning counties were AM, CN, LH and CW. Next weeks jackpot is €5600. Tickets are available from any committee member at a cost of €2 or online.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Niamh Mailey who was part of the Donegal Senior ladies team that won the Division 2 All Ireland league title on Saturday last in Parnell Park. Well done Niamh.

Team news
The under 10’s next blitz takes place in Convoy on Friday evening at 630pm.

The under 12’s had their first blitz of the season on Friday last in Ballybofey. Approx 20 children participated in two games v Mac Cumhaill’s. The under 13 boys were defeated by St. Eunan’s on Wednesday night last. Their next game is away to Gweedore on Wednesday next at 7pm. Under 12 and under 13 boys training continues on Monday at 6 – 7pm.

In a good all round team performance the minors beat a weakened Downing’s side on Thursday night. Their next game is at home v Glenfin on Thursday night at 730pm.

The senior men were beaten by Naomh Colmcille on a scoreline of 2 12 to 1 3. Scorers: Ryan Kettle 0 2 and Ryan Carlin 1 1. The reserves had a good victory over Naomh Colmcille on a scoreline of 2 8 to 0 6. Scorers: Michael Rodgers 0 3, Seamus Sweeney 1 2, Ciaran Quinn 0 1, Conor Mc Nulty 0 1, Gary Mc Cullagh 0 1 and  Jim Mc Dermott. Senior and reserves training continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 730pm

Ladies
The club fielded two under 12 girls’ teams for the first time on Saturday last in the blitz in Killygordon. They played Red Hugh’s and Robert Emmet’s and overall gave very good team performances. Thanks to Red Hugh’s for hosting the blitz and their hospitality on the day.

The under 14 girls had a good victory over Robert Emmet’s on Thursday last. Captained by Rebecca Prunty the girls put in a good all round team performance. Playing with the breeze in the first half they were four points up at half time. In the second half Robert Emmet’s came back to leave the scores all level with about 10 minutes to go. However the St. Marys girls continued to keep on the pressure to secure the victory. Niamh Woods and Ciara Mc Daid gave good performances in the backline while Sarah Allan, Victoria Kelly and goalkeeper Katie O’ Donnell were also impressive.

Their next game is at home v Termon on Thursday next. Players are asked to meet at pitch at 530 sharp for game at 6pm. 

The under 16 girls were defeated by St. Eunan’s on Tuesday last. Training continues on Tuesday at 6pm.

Senior ladies training continues on Wednesdays at 730pm and Sunday at 12midday
