Senior championship The Downs  0:10 Athlone 0:9
In Rochfordbridge on Saturday evening we played our second game in the championship and recorded a well deserved win to get our championship back on track. The Downs started with the greater urgency and were first to raise a flag, however we didn’t convert our share of possession or opportunities into scores. Athlone were more economical and held a halftime lead of 0:5 to 0:3 against the run of play. On the resumption The Downs scored first Athlone responded, but five unanswered points by The Downs gave us a two point advantage entering the final minutes. This was an much improved performance in sweltering conditions by the entire team and showed what unity of purpose can achieve .Team: Ciaran McCormack, Niall Nolan, Mark Dalton, Trevor McCormack, Ben Hogan, Jack Hogan, Declan Lynam, Brendan Murtagh, PJ Maguire, Barry Conroy, Stephen Devine, Brendan Cleary, Dean Egerton, John Smyth, Niall Folan. Subs Used: Shane Power, Luke Loughlin, Luke Folan, Kevin Smullen, Shane Carroll.
