We are continuing with our free text message service via TEAMER 51687 which we use to notify members regarding various club activities. If you wish to avail of this service, please text your name and number to Marc at 087 8362297. These messages are free to receive and a reply is not required. We currently have over 300 subscribers but would like to enhance it further to ensure all our supporters are aware of our activities and are notified when venues are changed or games cancelled etc

A first half goal ensured a 1:5 to 0:4  lead at halftime and an advantage we maintained  at the final whistle.

Div 7                           The Downs V Delvin
Our third team short a number of regulars fielded a mix of youth and experience and recorded a comprehensive win. Team: Kevin McGuire, Mark Leavy, Kieran Carroll, Pat Leavy, Niall O’Doherty, Alan Finch, Kevin Smullen, PJ Maguire, Vincent Conneely, Niall Folan, Pauric Corcoran, Kyle Gavin, Shane Carroll, Darragh Ayers, Dean Egerton. Subs: Sean Conneely, Paddy Walsh.
 
Under 12s
The under 12’s had a successful start to phase 2 of the Buckleys Supervalu League with victory over Kilbeggan / St. Joseph’s in Cusack Park on Tuesday evening last. Despite the heavy rain, the lads performed admirably combining some good football with well taken scores. Well done to Michael McHugh and the Minor Board for this initiative to give all under 12 footballers an opportunity to play in Cusack Park in front of the second best stand in the county.
The under 12’s are scheduled to play Athlone tonight Wednesday 13th at 7pm in The Downs – text message will have issued to confirm. Upcoming league and challenge fixtures can be viewed on our under 12 team page at www.teamer.net
A reminder that players must be registered to play for the club – forms are available from any team mentor.
 
Under 10
The Downs U10s Amber Team were at home to Moate in a challenge game on Tuesday, July 5th. Despite the heavy rain both teams contributed to an exciting game with the spoils being shared after three 15 minutes period.  The Downs were slow to start and were trailing by 4 scores at the end of the 1st period.  The 2nd period was evenly contested and the Downs upped their game in the final period to secure a draw.  The Amber Team was as follows:  Cian McCourt, Mark Nugent, Jack Walsh, Cathal Dagg, Oisin Loughlin, Oisin Raleigh, Ben, Gary Wynne, Kevin O’ Sullivan, Tom Tuite, Shane Murtagh, Mikey Moffatt, Sean Power, Gary Cleary, Paul McCool, Eoghan Egerton, Jay O’Brien, & Evan Scally.  Thanks to all the players & parents for attending the game despite the bad weather & special thanks to Moate for travelling.  A return game with Moate will be planned for later in the summer.  The U10s are at home to St.Joseph’s /Killbeggan in the North Westmeath League on Wednesday, July 13th.

Underage training from under 6 to under 12  Friday evenings  from 6.30 to 7.30 .New players welcome .  You can register at any training evening 
 
Club Shop
The club shop is located upstairs in the clubhouse and will be open during Friday evening training for the season. Just arrived are youth kit bags priced at 20 euros. Also in stock are ‘Squareball’ tee-shirts in a unique club design and ideal for the beach this summer. Adult sizes at 20 euros are in stock and kids sizes at 15 euros can be ordered.
A reminder that crested football gloves are available at cost price. New delivery of azzurri windcheaters and polo shirts have just arrived.

The Downs Ladies Football
Underage training for  under 6 to under 12 on Friday evenings 6.30 to 7.30 on Under 14s train on Mondays at 7. Under 16s, 18s and juniors train on Tuesday and Friday at 7.30. New members are welcome to come along for any age

The under 12s travelled to Tyrrellspass on Tuesday last and recorded a well earned win.

The Ladies Football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de- clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags are available from any team coach or committee member or in The Shop.
