Club notes for week commencing 13th May 2013

Underage training  is on Friday evenings 6.30 to 7.30  new players welcome.

 

The lads recorded a good home win over an understrength Mullingar Shamrocks side in the div 1 league on Thursday evening last. The div 2 fixture v Killucan was postponed and we hope to have it played this week.

Visit of London’s Dulwich Harps 

We are hosting the under 14 boys of Dulwich Harps and their team mentors for 3 nights as part of their irish tour. They will be staying with us on Sat 25th, Sun 26th and Mon 27th May. Thankyou to those who have already kindly agreed to provide accommodation for the visitors. We do need a few more to take either 1 pair of players or adult team mentors. Contact Marc 087 83622967 if you can help. The visitors will have their own itinerary for during the day and will return around 8pm each evening. Your co-operation will be greatly appreciated as we do our bit for The Gathering. 

 

The club are delighted to be hosting a cul camp again this year in association with Kelloggs from July 29th to 2nd August.

Table Quiz Night Fundraiser for The Downs U16/U18 Boys and Ladies Intermediate Teams Sat 18th May @ 7:30pm in The Downs Clubhouse.

 

The Downs Community Games are having their Sports on Saturday the 18th May next at 2p.m. sharp.  There will be many events including, tiny tots race, novelty races, Mothers and Fathers race, field events i.e. ball throw, long puck, disc, shotput and high jump. We look forward to a big turn out on the day.

Under 12 s recorded a win over Kinnegad on Thursday evening in Kinnegad.

 

Well done to Laura Wynne who was part of the Westmeath under 16  team who won the Leinster  championship on Sunday

Congratulations to Agnes Murtagh who refereed the County Junior final on Saturday last.

Registration is now due and can be paid to any coaches or in the shop reductions for families.

 

The Ladies Football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de- clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags of clothes can be left with any team coach or committee member or in The Shop. Please ask family, neighbours, friend and co-workers to fill a bag.
