Senior Championship The Downs 1:10 Athlone 0:10
The Downs started the stronger and went into an early 1:1 to 0:1 lead, but Athlone responded and it took a point from The Downs to level the scores at halftime 1: 3 to 0:6.
The Downs with the wind in the second half took the lead and maintained the advantage to the final whistle and qualify for the quarter final. Junior Championship The Downs 1:10 Mullingar Shamrocks 3:10
In a closely contested first half Shamrocks held a goal advantage at the break 1:6 to 0:6. Shamrocks scored two early goals and went into nine point lead, The Downs reduced the difference to three points but Shamrocks tagged on unanswered points and took the two points. Under 12
The under 12’s lost out away to St Malachy’s / Ballinagore on Wednesday last in phase 2 of the league.
On this Saturday, we travel to Gowna Co Cavan to play in a 9 aside blitz. We have entered 2 teams with each guaranteed at least 4 games. We will be meeting at 830am in The Downs to arrange transport – bus will be organised if required.
All queries to Marc 087 8362297 – details will be confirmed at this week’s training. Packed lunch, change of clothes etc will be required. Blitz should be completed by mid afternoon.
County Under 16
Well done to Luke Loughlin and Dean Daly who were on the Westmeath under 16 team who defeated Roscommon in the Fr Manning final, Luke scored 3:02 and was awarded man of the match.

Club Shop
The club shop is located upstairs in the clubhouse and will be open during Friday evening training for the season. Just arrived are youth kit bags priced at 20 euros. Also in stock are ‘Squareball’ tee-shirts in a unique club design and ideal for the summer. Adult sizes at 20 euros are in stock and kids sizes at 15 euros can be ordered.

The Downs Ladies Football
Underage training for under 6 to under 12 on Friday evenings 6.30 to 7.30 on Under 14s train on Mondays at 7. Under 16s, 18s and juniors train on Tuesday and Friday at 7.30. New members are welcome to come along for any age

Minor
The minors got back on the winning way with an impressive win over Rochfordbridge on Tuesday last.
Fundraising
The Ladies Football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de- clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags are available from any team coach or committee member or in The Shop.
