Under 16s
On Sunday 25th August we played Killucan in the quarter final of the championship in The Downs. Killucan opened the scoring with a point which was soon cancelled out with a point from Dylan Carroll. Sean Loughlin then hit the net for a goal for The Downs and Thomas O Rourke also raised a green flag a few minutes later. Further points from Dylan Carroll, Thomas O Rourke, Andrew Kilmartin and Conor Murray left us with a commanding lead at half time of 2-09 to 0-04. Killucan started the second half strongly with a well taken point but The Downs responded well with a goal by Dylan Carroll and a second goal for Thomas O Rourke. Sean Loughlin, Niall Gavin, Andrew Kilmartin and Niall Mitchell added further points to give us a deserving victory on a score line of 4-15 to 0-08.

On a wet damp Saturday evening 7th September we made the short distance into Lakepoint Park to play St. Lomans in the semi-final of the championship. In what was extremely difficult conditions for football both sides served up a close fought entertaining contest. Niall Gavin opened the scoring for The Downs and that was followed up with a point from Phillip Doherty. St Lomans then got their 1st score of the game with a well taken point. Dylan Carroll then pointed a free for The Downs but the home side cancelled that out a few minutes later with their second point of the game. Niall Gavin & Niall Mitchell added further points towards the end of the 1st half to leave us with a 3 point lead at half time. We started the second half very well but failed to make it count on the score board and it was St Lomans who got the 1st point of the second half. A pointed free from Niall Gavin on the 10th minute of the second half was our 1st score of this half after a number of squandered opportunities. St Lomans then piled on the pressure with four unanswered points to give them a one point lead with 5 minutes remaining. Substitute Andrew Kilmartin kicked a vital score to level the match. Then Niall Gavin scored 2 excellent points in the remaining minutes to give us victory on a score line of 0-09 to 0-07.
The team now advance to the county final where they will meet current champions Athlone.
