Well done to the under 12 boys who finished runners up in the annual Caulry tournament on Saturday last.

Our final league fixture vs Mullingar Shamrocks takes place tonight Wednesday with a 6pm start.

Reminder that our last training for 2012 takes place this Saturday 6th October at 5pm with refreshments in the clubhouse afterwards. There will be no training this Friday October 5^th

 

The under 14 shield was postponed, re-fixture details to be confirmed.

New Youth Strength and Conditioning Programme starts this week on Wednesday 3rd Oct in The Downs Club at 7:15pm.

This is for U14 to U18 players who will be involved in 2013 football season.

Two sessions a week will take place, one in the main club hall on Wednesdays and the other on Fridays outside on the training pitch. Both start at 7:15 sharp. A €15 Registration Fee is charged by the Downs GAA club to participate in this program. There is no additional cost for additional family members who wish to also do the program. Registration of players will take place Wednesday on first night along first session in hall. Players asked to wear tracksuits or shorts with runners/trainers for indoor session. All parents/guardians  are welcome to attend on the night. Any queries, contact John Murray The Downs Juvenile Club Coaching Coordinator. 

 

Bingo continues every Friday at 8.30, come along and brings a friend for an enjoyable night’s entertainment.

On Sunday morning we travelled to Ballycomoyle to take on the home side, short a number of regulars we fielded a young team. The Downs  took to the task with great enthusiasm and quickly built up a lead which we increased on throughout the game . We now wait to see the semi-final draw. Team: Orla Gavin, Ursula Carley, Fiona Dignan, Rebecca Kelly, Leanne Duncan, Roisin Scally, Laura Wynne,  Ellen Tate, Mary Lynam, Amy Staunton,  Niamh Rowan, Emma Murtagh, Serena Wynne, Aoife Carley.

The Ladies Football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de- clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags of clothes can be left with any team coach or committee member or in The Shop. Please ask family, neighbours, friend and co-workers to fill a bag.
