Results Under 14s
On Thursday evening 12th May we played the final game in the league series against Ballinacaragy. We finished off the campaign as we started with a comprehensive win and a hundred percent record in this competitive division. In the first half we played with the wind but found it hard to settle and put scores on the board that would have reflected our possession. We did however head to the break with a seven point lead. In the second half we came out and converted a lot more scores and finished the game very strong. In goals Dylan Carroll performed well, the full back line of Adam Loughlin, Jack Lynch and Darragh Egerton never gave the opposition many chances to score performing well, the half back line of Cormac Murray, James Monaghan and Conor Coughlin cut out any attacking threat that Ballinacaragy attempted with great determination, The midfield of Stephen Colgan and Niall Gavin totally dominated this area and supplied the necessary ball to the forwards. Half forwards of Sean Loughlin, Conor Murray and Conor Duncan pressed hard all evening and took some fine scores in the process, full forward line of Mark Walsh, Niall Mitchell and Philip Doherty also took some fine scores and worked hard throughout the game, the strength of the panel was reflected in the quality of the subs and when Daragh Murray, Jack Kennedy, Jack O’Brien, Thomas O’Rourke and Evan Eivers came on they too defended well and took some fine scores. In the end we ran out easy winners to top the league table 2011. Well done to the lads for their hard work, attitude and discipline to the series of games in the league. We now look forward to the Championship games in the weeks ahead.

Under 16s League The Downs 3:4           Caulry 3:4
Playing away to Caulry in poor conditions a strong wind and slippery underfoot made it difficult for good football. We played against the wind in the first half and were a goal down at halftime 0:1 to 1:1. Goals from Luke Loughlin, Mark McCormack and Ian Martin, strong defending by the defence especially in the first half against the wind, two excellent saves by Shane Nugent and a strong work rate from the midfield and forwards  ensured we shared the points. Team: Shane Nugent, Shane O’Rourke, Dean Daly, Mark Kelly, Ryan Briody, Peter Murray, Dean Moran, Sean Cullen, Shane Raleigh, Luke Loughlin, Eoghan Moore, Benny Groom, Mark McCormack, Jake Cahill, Ian Martin, Andrew Dalton, James Murtagh, Ethan McDonnell, Shane Conroy.

The Downs 3:10           Tubberclaire     1:5
In a must win game to take division 2 title we were at home with the pitch in excellent condition. We played with the wind in the first half and built up a lead we held to the end. Well don to the lads for a good league campaign, now the focus is to the championship. Mentors John and Sean wish the lads doing exams best of luck and players doing exams are excused training and challenge games. Team: Shane Nugent, Shane O’Rourke, Patrick Duncan, Peter Murray, Mark Kelly, Dean Moran, Eoghan Moore, Shane Raleigh, Dean Daly, Ryan Briody, Sean Cullen, Benny Groom, Luke Loughlin, Andrew Dalton, Ian Martin, Shane Conroy, Ethan O’Donnell, Nason Moore, Mark McCormack, James Murtagh.

Results
League Division 2                  The Downs 5:11         Ballycomoyle 4:3
Playing with a strong  wind in the first half  The Downs failed to convert possession into scores and went in at half time ahead      which did not seem enough for the windy conditions in the second half. The Downs made little of playing against the strong  wind with excellent passing football to create scoring opportunities and take the two points. Team: Caoimhe Duncan, Sinead Murray, Emma Murtagh, Fiona Dignan, Roisin Scally, Gillian Ferguson, Aoife Rowan, Ellen Tate, Beth McGuire, Mary Lynam, Leanne Duncan, Amy Staunton, Laura Wynn, Louise Kearney, Laura Kelly, Paula Duffy, Ruth Kenny.
