Club notes for week commencing 25th February 2013

November 7, 2018

Scor
On Saturday our junior set dancers travelled to Derry for the junior scor All-Ireland. Competing in “The Venue” an impressive hall installed for the year of culture. Our dancers (Laura Wynne, Niamh Rowan, Ursula Carley, Leanne Duncan. Conor Murray, Stephen Colgan, Dillon Carroll, Jack Kennedy) gave an excellent performance and were definitely in contention but unfortunately this was not their year however they can look to the future as seven dancers are underage again next year. We thank the dancers for their commitment and the positive way they represented the club over the weekend. We must also recognise the tremendous work Alice and Brenda Deihy give to Scor in The Downs and set dancing in particular and the time commitment they gave to this young group. Thanks also to the   large group of supporters who travelled to Derry. The dancers may not have been the choice of the judges but back at the hotel they were everyone’s number one where they entertained the guests with dance and music.
Senior Scor continues on Saturday with  the county final in The Downs the figure dancers, solo singer, novelty act and set dancers represent the club, beat of luck to all

Division 7       The Downs  0:10        St Marys 2:4
Our third team started their campaign at home on Saturday,  going into the break 2:3 to 0:3 down. The Downs recovered from being seven points down during the second half. to get a share of the results.
Team: Pauric Corcoran, Conor Thompson, Peter Murray, Ryan Briody, Mark Leavy, Shane Egerton, Shane Raleigh, Cian Quinn, Jack Hogan, Dean Egerton, Sean Loughlin, Dean Daly, Kyle Gavin, Shane Carroll, Kevin Bell. Subs Used Jake Cahill, Paul Shanley, Mark Kelly.

League Div 2              The Down  0:7  St Malachys 0:8
On Sunday afternoon, our first team opened their league campaign with a home game. With an impressive first half we went into the break 0:5 to 0:2 ahead, this score did not reflect the amount of possession we enjoyed. A return of 2 points in the second half was not enough to ensure a result from the game and we lost by the narrowest of margins. Team: Ciaran McCormack, Niall Murray, Niall Nolan, Cian Carty, Conor Carley, Jack Hogan, Mark Dalton, Ben Hogan, Barry Conroy, Declan Lynam, PJ Maguire, Kevin Smullen, Luke Loughlin, Niall Folan, Dean Egerton. Subs Used: Brendan Murtagh, Brendan Flynn, Shane Carroll.
