New Nursery
Our qualified schools coach Ms. Bernie Corroon is leading our new initiative to give 4 to 6 year old girls and boys, an age appropriate introduction to sport and gaelic football. This will not be just concentrating on GAA skills but also fundamental skills known as the ABC’ s(Agility, Balance, Coordination). Children will follow a programme to develop their individual motor skills (jumping, throwing, catching) and it is our aim to keep the coaching sessions fun and with plenty of variety. Contact Bernie @ 087 9282432. Nursery is sponsored by Easons, Pearse St, Mullingar.

Results
Div 1 LeagueIn a tough encounter at Springfield  on Sat last we finished 3 point behind Shamrocks on a score line of 0.13 to 0.10. This was a good senior league game played in the right spirit and the pitch was in excellent condition for football. Michael Gordon had little to do as both teams concentrated on football throughout.  Shamrocks started very well and led by 6 points on a few occasions. They are a powerful side and it would be foolish to back against them in most competitions this year.  Early on we were not able to stay with them and they attacked from their half back line in particular. Both wing backs got scores and made many good runs into our half.  A couple of miss-placed pass coming out of defence and a kick out that went wrong gave them opportunities that we could not afford. We steadied the ship before half time with a few points. Second half we raised our game and settled down to playing better as a unit. We moved the ball well and our backs worked very hard to set up play going forward. With 7 mins remaining we were only 2 behind however we just could not get into the final gear to claw us back to level. We wasted a few chances and Shamrocks finished with the last score. Benny Flynn played very well at corner back and the backs in general did what was asked of them. Shane Carroll was impressive when he came on while Niall Folan and Kevin Smullen work hard upfront in particular. Overall while disappointed to lose we can take many positives from the game. We followed it up with a good tough session on Sunday which was very pleasing.  We need to recover from the defeat quickly and get back to winning ways. The only route is through full attendance and hard work at training. The blending of new and regular players takes a little bit more effort than normal and we need to put the time in at training. Well done to the lads for the effort to date.

The Club Shop will be open during our weekly underage coaching sessions.

Well done to Peter Shanley who was Fear on Ti and did an excellent job, ably assisted on stage by Noel Lynam and Eugene Murray.

Committee Meeting
Committee meeting on Tuesday 3rd at 9pm.

The Boot Room
Anybody with football boots that are surplus to requirements can leave them in our new BOOT ROOM located at the pitch end of the old dressing rooms. This has came about following several requests from parents who have boots in very good condition but no longer fit the owners. Kids particularly can grow out of boots quite quickly and this new initiative will allow other kids pick up boots for a nominal fee. All funds received will go to towards underage football. Boots that remain at the end of the season will be donated to charity.

Club All-Ireland
Best of luck to Garrycastle as they try once again to win that elusive All-Ireland.
