Dulwich Harps
Thanks to everyone who made the visit such a great success last weekend. Our friends from Dulwich Harps and St Pauls Academy in South London were most appreciative of the hospitality received during their 3 night stay in the midlands. We extend our sincere appreciation to the host families who kindly opened their homes for the 3 nights and gave the visitors a very warm and generous welcome. To Olivia and her catering colleagues, well done and thanks on a terrific job. Thanks to our various club officials who made themselves available to ensure everything went smoothly over the few days. Monday night was the conclusion of the trip for the visitors with an U14 challenge against our own lads. The scene was set once again by young Thomas Tuite who gave a flawless rendition of Amhran na Bhfiann. What followed was a terrific game of football well refereed by Jody Moran with our lads not daunted by the bigger and more physical opposition. We were behind narrowly at the final whistle but our lads put in a terrific second half performance which should bode well for the summer. Refreshments and presentations followed afterwards in the clubhouse and thanks to George and our County and Leinster Scor na nOg set dancers for putting on an exhibition for the visitors.
Under 14 Boys
The lads overcame Kilbeggan St Joseph’s in their penultimate div 1a league game last weekend. The last remaining fixture v Ballynacargy was scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday.
The div 2 side had a good win over an understrength Multyfarnham on Sunday evening last. They are scheduled to play away to Tyrellspass this Thursday evening – details to be confirmed by text.

U16 Boys Football
The month of May was an extremely busy but successful month for our U16 boys.
We played our fourth league match on 13th May at a windswept Lakepoint Park where we took on St Lomans. We started the game very brightly and took an early lead but 2 quick goals by the home side put St Lomans ahead 20 minutes into the first half. We responded well with a goal from Conor Duncan and 4 unanswered points before half time to leave the sides level at the half time break. Playing with the aid of a very strong breeze in the second half we ran out comfortable winners in the end. Excellent performances from Conor Duncan & Conor Coughlan on the night.
On the 20th May we travelled down to Athlone to take on the home side. We started the game very well and were 1 goal and 2 points up after ten minutes. We continued to pressure the home side and 2 further goals from Thomas O Rourke and Conor Murray along with 2 well taken points left us with a flattering 10 point lead at half time. Athlone came back at us very strong in the second half to reduce the deficit as was expected. A goal by Jack O Brien followed by points from Andrew Kilmartin & Thomas O Rourke in the last ten minutes made sure of the win on a score line of 4-11 to 1-09. Excellent performances by Conor Duncan & team captain Niall Gavin on the night.
We took on Ballynacarrigy in The Downs on 25th May in what was a re-fixed match from a previous post ponement. 2 well taken goals from Dylan Carroll & Thomas O Rourke along some excellent points by Andrew Kilmartin gave us an 8 point lead at half time. We pushed on in the second half to close out the game comfortably in the end. Excellent performances from Darragh Egerton & Jack O Brien on the night.
Our final league match was played on Monday 27th May in The Downs against an unbeaten Rosemount side. The game was very close early in the first half with not much separating the sides. We finished the half very strongly with a goal from Andrew Kilmartin and 3 points in the final 10 minutes to lead by 9 points at half time. We started the second half the way we finished the first half with an early second goal from Andrew Kilmartin and 2 well taken points. However Rosemount scored 3 points in succession to keep the pressure on our lads. Substitute Mark Walsh scored 2 excellent points in the final ten minutes and the match finished on a scoreline of 3-12 to 0-08. Excellent performances from Andrew Kilmartin & Niall Mitchell on the night.
The players deserve a lot of credit for their commitment & attitude over the past few weeks which ended with the team sitting on top of Division 1 but there will be a lot more extremely difficult obstacles to cross when the championship begins later in the year. Best of luck to all players doing exams over the coming weeks.
