Under 12s
We are starting a very busy 4 weeks in September as the end of the season approaches. The final phase of the league is underway and we recorded a good win away to Coralstown Kinnegad on Wednesday evening last. Led by captain David Keenaghan, the lads played some great football in very wet and difficult conditions so fair play to the entire panel and supporters for making the effort. We will have a league game every Wednesday during September. On Saturday we played a double challenge over Kildare amalgamated side Balyna in Molloy Park. Spoils were shared with one club winning a game apiece and well done to all including captains Luke Smith and Cian McCourt. Thanks to Mick and Martin for refereeing.
Well done to Liam Moran and Euan Lagan for representing their community and county in the recent Community Games National Finals

The Downs Ladies Football

Under 14 semi-final                The Downs 2:10         St Lomans 1:5

On Thursday last in The Downs we took on our neighbours  St Lomans. Having previously suffered a defeat to St Lomans  in the league and  as league table toppers they were favourites to advance.
With both sides missing scoring chances it was St Lomans who first raised  a flag, The Downs equalised quickly but St Lomans  took advantage of  indecision in The  Downs defence to score a goal. The Downs finished the half the stronger scoring 1:4 without out replay to go in at half time 3 points ahead. St Lomans started the second half  in determined mood scoring 3 unanswered points  in five minutes to equalise the scores. The Downs upper their effort and had the sides equal with 15 minutes remaining. The Downs dominated the scoring for the last quarter scoring 1:5 without reply to emerge deserved winners and gain a place in the final meeting Moate. The final is fixed for Sunday venue to be confirmed.
Team Grace Raleigh, Roisin McDonagh, Amy Dagg,  Naoise O’Donoghue, Roisin Rose, Serena Wynne, Amber Gilgan, Chloe Gavigan, Niamh Nolan, Katie Heffernan, Anna Murtagh, Niamh Rowan, Megan Kennaghan, Aoife Kearney, Emma Murtagh, Orla Gavin, Loren Flatherty, Niamh Moore, Aoife Carley, Brittney McNamee, Natalie Ward, Emily O’Rourke, Shauna Conneely.
Congratulations to Roisin Scally on winning a junior camogie all Ireland on Sunday also to Katie Heffernan on recently winning an under 16 camogie  all Ireland.
