League Div 7                Na Dunta 3.08            St Marys 0.10
We played our first div 7 game on Tuesday 29th at home and got off to a good start. We had a mixture of youth and experience throughout the team. We attacked very well from the start and scored some nice points from Padraig Cochrane, Vinny Connelly and Shane Carroll. Then Larry Donohue scored a goal to put us 6 up before St Marys came back with 3 points. We got another goal from Larry to lead 2.03 to 0.03 at half time. In the second half Michael O Connor opened with a well taken point then hit the upright for Shane Carroll to net the rebound. We were well in control but credit to St Marys they kept coming at us and played good football. For each club this is their 3rd adult team and to their credit it was a very enjoyable game. Kevin Maguire made some great saves in goal, Cian Carthy, Conor Thompson and Trevor Mc Cormick were very fast and defended well along with the more experienced Fergal Fagan, Vinny Connelly and Mark Leavy who were very steady. Michael O Conor and David Reilly put in a good shift at midfield as did PJ Maguire when introduced. In attack Brendan Flynn, Shane Carroll and Niall O Doherty were very slick while Larry, Padraig and Dara Ayres set up a lot of scores. Kyle Gavin, Kevin Smullen, Ciaran Seery and Pat leavy all played well when introduced. We had Cian Quinn and  Dean Egerton who did not get in but they will get their chance another day. It was great to see all these lads gelling together so well and hopefully we can now get regular football for them in order to develop the youth with the experienced lads alongside. Thanks to all who officiated and those who had the pitch ready for game. Training Tue and Friday continues as usual and minors are out on Monday evenings. It is important to keep coming in order to get sharper for rest of the year.

League Div 1                Na Dunta 1.14             Tyrellspass 0-10
On Sunday we travelled to the Tyrellspass and came away with a win. We got off to a great start and played very fast direct football. We scored 3 quick points and the David Smith finished excellently to the net after a good move through the T-pass defence. We were totally on top at this stage but we seemed to revert to a slower build up and some poor passing deep in our half let T-Pass back into the game. Our errors allowed them to get easy scores and we went into the break 1-06 to 0.07 ahead however after the good start it could have being more in our favour.
We were fast out of the blocks in the second half and went 2 points further in front but again T-Pass came back and scored 2 quick points. Our midfield was struggling to win clean possession and this left a lot of pressure on the backs. Niall Nolan made a good save on the goal line and Ciaran Mc Cormick stopped a good effort. We gained our composure again and drove on to score 6 points to 1 to win with a 7 point margin. Overall we played very well when we adopted the direct route. Our attitude from the start was excellent and there was evidence of a lot of hard work done to date. Phil and his management team seem to have the lads well focused and the good numbers at training is paying off. Competition for places is hotting up and there is no one guaranteed a starting place as we head towards the championship. Sharpness and training attendance will be required by everyone on the panel from here to make sure we are ready for tougher challenges. Well done to all involved on what was a very enjoyable game.
Team Ciaran Mc Cormick, Niall Nolan, Mark Dalton, Stephen Cleary, Declan Lynam, Greg Crowley, Jack Hogan, Noel Molloy, Michael O Connor, David Smith, Tommy Cleary, Barry Conroy, Keith Shanley, Ciaran Kiely, Shane Power. Under 14 Feile
Our under 14 squad were out in the feile this week against St Malachy’s/Ballinagore at home. This game was played in the new format at 15minutes aside. Our feile squad comprises of the two teams and needless to say we were delighted with the turn out. We stared the games well and put a few early scores on the board and from then on held the upper hand coming out at the end with a good victory over a determined opposition

Under 14 League
On Thursday night our Div 1 team had a home league game against St Lomans. The standard of football from the throw was impressive and our lads got on top early. We converted some fine scores and went to the dressing rooms at the break ahead. In the second half we built on this lead with all the lads performing well and sticking to the task. In the end ran out easy winners building a good start to the first few league games.
On Tuesday 05th our Div 3 team play Maryland  best of luck to the lads.

Under 14 Feile.
Our under 14 team took part in Feile on Saturday, we were in a group with Milltown and Rochfordbridge. We played Milltown in the first game and unfortunately we were narrowly beaten, we played Rochfordbridge next and had an impressive win but Milltown beat Rochfordbridge and progressed to the semi-final. Well done to all the girls and based on the feile performance we can look forward to a successful year.

League Div 2
We played our first game of the year on  Sunday against Kilbeggan in The Downs after a sluggish start we found it difficult to get to the pace of the game in the first half but we improved in the second half and finished the game strongly.
