Pat Walsh Memorial Cup
The under 10’s completed their season with a busy schedule on Saturday last. First up was our annual Pat Walsh Memorial Cup Blitz which took place in Kevin Molloy Park. The visitors were Clann na nGael from Athboy / Rathcairn and St. Oliver Plunkett’s Eoghan Ruadh from Dublin. The Meath side took the spoils after winning 5 of their 6 games and the cup was presented afterwards by Paddy Walsh. Refreshments were served in the clubhouse and a big thankyou to everyone who brought food and assisted in the kitchen. A sincere thank you as always to head of catering Catriona Brennan. Finally, thanks to our referees Niamh, Kevin and Jody and our local photographer Bernie Conneely and also to Shauna Conneely who distributed fliers at the recent blitzes.  Any under 10 player that has not received their team photograph from Saturday can contact Marc to receive same.
The 2010 season was wrapped up on Saturday evening with a fun session followed by refreshments afterwards in the clubhouse. The under 10 team mentors would like to take this opportunity to thank the players and their families for their support during the year and look forward to more of the same for the black and amber in 2011.

U16’s Qualify for Semifinal
In a very entertaining game last Saturday at home we came out on top 3.10 to 1.12 beating a very strong Tubberclare side. We were without 8 of our panel and we had to dig deep to get over the line. Our lads gave every ounce of energy they had and put their bodies on the line for every ball. We allowed Tubberclare to get off to a good start by conceding 2 points but we quickly bounce back and led at half time by 5 points. Our first goal was well taking by PJ Maguire after a good cross from Luke Loughlin, the latter also scoring some great points. Tubberclare started strong again after the break and got 2 quick points but then we hit 2 goals from Gearoid Sheridan and Luke both excellently taken. Tubberclare kept coming at us but superb points from Cian Quinn and Luke off his right foot made sure we finished on top. Finbar Thompson suffering from an injury played in goal for us and did very well, Our full back line were tigerish and won their battles, Half backs totally dominated their opponents, mid field came out on top overall against a very strong opposition, Half forwards worked tirelessly and took the game to Tubberclare at every chance while our full forward line caused plenty of problems and won frees in good positions. We now need a full turnout as we prepare for the semifinal. Thomas Egan picked up an injury and we wish him a speedy recovery. Training date will be sent out by text. Contact 087 2949714 if in doubt. Well done to all. Team: F Thompson, P Duncan, T Egan, S Murray, S Raleigh, D Daly, M Kelly, C Quinn, PJ Maguire, K Newman, L Loughlin, F Doherty, G Sheridan, S Nugent, S Conroy, P Murray
