We are continuing with our free text message service via TEAMER 51687 which we use to notify members regarding various club activities. If you wish to avail of this service, please text your name and number to Marc at 087 8362297. These messages are free to receive and a reply is not required. We currently have over 300 subscribers but would like to enhance it further to ensure all our supporters are aware of our activities and are notified when venues are changed or games cancelled etc

Bingo
Bingo continues every Friday at 8.30, come along and bring a friend for an enjoyable nights entertainment. Jackpot is now €1,600
First Aid
We are planning to provide a First-Aid person to cover our underage coaching sessions which recommence on March 24th. This will be arranged on a rota basis so we are looking for 6 volunteers to do 1 hour each on a Friday @ 630pm every 6 weeks or so. Training will be provided if required. Please contact Trudie @ 0879890121 to get involved or if you would like to avail of the next first aid training course. Defibrillator training will also be arranged shortly – anybody interested should contact Trudie or any club official. A reminder that a Defibrillator is located at the clubhouse at the external wall of the entrance porch.
Scor
We hosted the Leinster semi-final on Sunday, Jenny McNamee represented the club and Westmeath in solo singing and progressed to the Leinster Final on 25th of March.
Membership and Registration
Membership is now due Adults €20, Family €30, Juvenile €15, OAP €5 Adult Player €40, Student Adult Player €20
Please note all players must pay membership before playing; please ensure you have your membership paid before first game.
Under Age Registration
Registration for underage players is on 10th of March 2 to 5.
Training will start on Saturday 24th and then change to the usual Friday evenings.
New Nursery
Our qualified schools coach Ms. Bernie Corroon will lead our new initiative to give 4 to 6 year old girls and boys, an age appropriate introduction to sport and gaelic football. This will not be just concentrating on GAA skills but also fundamental skills known as the ABC’ s(Agility, Balance, Coordination). Children will follow a programme to develop their individual motor skills (jumping, throwing, catching) and it is our aim to keep the coaching sessions fun and with plenty of variety. Apache Pizza
The club is delighted to announce a new sponsorship agreement with Apache Pizza Mullingar. Niall at Apache Pizza has kindly made a contribution towards training equipment for our underage coaching programme which will recommence on March 24th (registration on March 10th). We have also agreed a loyalty scheme whereby the club will receive 5% of all pizza sales when the club’s code of 1893 is quoted when ordering. If you forget the code, just mention The Downs GAA Club. Trip to Omagh
Support club and county this weekend. This weekend the senior team are travelling to Tyrone to play a challenge game and also support Westmeath in their game against Tyrone on Saturday night. The bus leaves on Saturday morning and arriving back on Sunday afternoon. The cost of bus, bed and breakfast €50. There are a number of places available to book a place contact Tommy Kelly 0872949714
Bus to Club All-Ireland
The Club are organising a bus to the club All-Ireland on St Patricks Day – Adults €10 underage €5. To book a seat contact Sean Carroll 0876507659. All children to be accompanied by and adult.
Sympathy
We extend our sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of the late Pat Monaghan England and The Downs.
The Downs Ladies Football
The Leagues start next weekend and we are fixed to play Killucan away on Saturday 10th @ 5pm.
Fundraising
The Ladies Football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de- clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags of clothes can be left with any team coach or committee member or in The Shop.
