Under 12
The under 12’s had an action packed 24 hours last weekend. On Friday night they recorded victories over St. Michael’s in a double league fixture played in Kevin Molloy Park. Then early on Saturday morning they travelled to County Down to take part in the prestigious Newry Mitchel’s Blitz which this year attracted 42 teams from 13 different counties. With teams placed in groups of 5, our lads recorded 3 brilliant wins in a row over St. Anne’s of Dublin, Ardara of Donegal and Clann na Banna of Down. In the final group game we lost out to Down side Carryduff but the 3 earlier victories secured second spot in the group and a place in the quarter finals of the John McAleavey Memorial Plate. Up next were the host side Newry Mitchel’s and in front of a large home crowd, our lads played well and went in all square at the break. However after the restart, Newry Mitchel’s stepped up a gear went on to secure victory and a place in the semi-final. This was a terrific day of football for our lads, playing 100 minutes of football against top opposition and winning 3 out of 5 games. Well done to all the players who played their part and represented the club with honour and pride throughout the day. Panel: Jack Carroll, Keith Carroll, Donal Coughlan, Matthew Cunningham, Taylor Daly, Liam Faulkner, Paul Flynn, Conor Gavin, Alex Henry, Jonathan Lynam, Luke Maguire, Darragh Monaghan, Joseph Moran, Oisín Murphy, Enda O’Rourke, Max Rowan, Darren Shaw, Colin Smith, Jordan Smyth. Well done to Max and Jordan for being nominated for player of the tournament.Photographs from Newry can be viewed on our under 12 page at www.teamer.net
