The senior citizens committee would like to thank everyone who supported their Traditional Music Night in the GAA clubhouse on Saturday  night –  patrons musicians and sponsors of prizes for the raffle.

 

 

The lads travelled to Springfield on Wednesday evening last to play Mullingar Shamrocks in the under 13 league. Over 50 players from both clubs were involved in 2 x 15 aside games which were a great advertisement for gaelic football.The football was of a very high standard from all teams and was played in a competitive but very sporting atmosphere.

Led by captain Oisin Raleigh, our lads started well and led by 6 after game 1. However, the home side rallied in the second game and led by 3 with minutes remaining. But a late goal followed by a point left us a point ahead at the final whistle. This was a terrific performance particularly on the bigger pitch with the 15 aside format. Thanks to Kevin, Pat and colleagues in Shamrocks for the games and to Westmeath player Kieran Gavin for refereeing who the lads were delighted to meet afterwards. Next league fixture is scheduled for Weds 18th July away to Athlone. We will also be playing in the annual Gowna Blitz in Cavan on Saturday 21st July. Training continues on Fridays at 630pm – new players always welcome.

 

We are now providing a First Aid officer for our Friday evening coaching sessions. New volunteers are always welcome and the Friday evening slots are provided on a rota basis. Please contact Trudy @ 087 9890121 for more information a reminder that a Defibrillator is located at the clubhouse at the external wall of the entrance porch.

 

We are delighted to be hosting a Kelloggs Cúl Camp in August this year. The 5 day camp will begin on Monday August 13th and finish on Friday 17th August 2012. The Ladies Football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de- clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags of clothes can be left with any team coach or committee member or in The Shop. Please ask family, neighbours, friend and co-workers to fill a bag.
