We wish our Seniors the best of luck on Sunday
next when they take on Fr. Manning Gaels in the championship and we hope to see
a good turnout of support from the parish. The game is on Sunday at 6:30 in Pearse Park.

Junior
The Juniors were defeated on Sunday in the Championship Quarter Final by a score of 0-7 to 1-8. See brief match report at the bottom of the page.
Minor
Our U/12’s played in a tournament on Thursday
evening last against Ballymahugh and we had a good win in this
competition. Our minor amalgamation Colmcille/Clonbroney are due to play
against Clonguish on Monday 25th in the league, results of this next week.
All players please check fixtures list for any upcoming games. We would
like to thank Marty McNerney for his sponsorship of shorts and socks for our
U/14’s.
Well done to all students who received their results
recently and good luck to all those returning to school or heading off to
college in the next few weeks. Congrats to Claire Doyle who celebrated her
21st birthday recently.
Junior Championship Quarter Final
Colmcille 0-7 Shroid 1-8
Colmcille played with
the breeze in the first half and opened their account with a fine effort from
Gabriel Reilly after 5 minutes. Colmcille were on top in the opening quarter
and went three points up with a free from Michael Kilbride after 13 minutes
followed by a fine effort from play 2 minutes later. Shroid began get a grip
around the middle of the field and scored 4 points on the trot with scores from
Eamon Wall (2), Philip Dardis and Karl Taylor. Colmcille squandered chances by
kicking some bad wides however frees from Michael Kilbride and Gabriel Reilly
put Colmcille one point ahead with 24 minutes gone. Just before half time,
Shroid were awarded a penalty when Dermot Kiernan was adjudged to have
committed a foul after a long ball was floated in the square by Philip Dardis.
The penalty was slotted home by David Mulligan to give Shroid a two point lead
at the break (Colmcille 0-5, Shroid 1-4).
In the second half,
Colmcille introduced Kevin Farrell to midfield and he made an immediate impact
by firing over a point after seven minutes. Colmcille began to dominate the
game but could not make possession count on the score board kicking more bad
wides and squandering a few goal chances. Shroid played well on the counter
attack and Neill Dunne fired over two frees before Kevin Farrell pointed for
Colmcille in the 49th minute. A further pointed free from Neill Dunne put
Shroid three points into the lead and while Colmcille put pressure on the Shroid
goal with Peter Darcy now at full forward but they could not get past a
resolute Shroid defence.
Center back Ollie
Nulty pointed a fine effort after 54 minutes and this was to be the lat score
of the game as Shroid held out for victory.
Best for Shroid were
Sean Steklum, Brian Steklum, Dermot Harte in defence, Marc Reynolds and Philip
Reynolds at midfield while Eamon Wall, Neill Dunne and David Mulligan were best
in attack.
Best for Colmcille
were Dermot Kiernan, Andew McKeon, Kevin Farrell, Gabriel Reilly and Michael
Kilbride.
