Club Notes from week ending June 29th

November 8, 2018

Senior:

Our seniors played Sean Connolly’s in Round 5 of the League. The game finished on a score line of 0-9 to 0-9. We raced into a four point lead early in the first half but Connollys notched over a few frees and we went in one up at the break (5-4). In the second half, Connolly’s increased the pressure and raced into an 8-5 lead. A late 45 from Donei McKeon near the end of the game forced the draw in a game we should have won but could have lost. Sean Connolly’s deployed a defensive game from the start bringing their forwards back into defence and midfield in what is becoming norm when teams play Colmcille. The draw still leaves us in contention for leader cup honours after 5 games played. (3 wins, 2 draws, 1 defeat – see tables)

F Heslin, Podge Murtagh, N Farrell, O McGivney, B Brady, G Murtagh, F Kavanagh, D S Reilly, E Farrell, Paul Murtagh, T Doyle (0-2), A Gormley, B McCabe, D Farrell (0-1), D McKeon (0-6)

Subs: JP Reilly for Paul Murtagh, P McKeon for B McCabe

Next Saturday we play St Marys (Granard) in the second round of the Senior Championship at 7:30pm in Pearse Park.

In the Intermediate championship we suffered another heavy defeat to Killoe at Emmet Park. Next week we play our final game against Kilashee at Fr McGee Park.

The club would like to offer its best wishes to Collette Jobe and Patrick McGivney, Mullinlagtha on their wedding on Saturday 28th at St Colmcille’s Church.
