Club notes w/e 21/9/08

On Saturday evening last Coolera Strandhill played Tubbercurry in the refixed championship semi final in a sun drenched Markievicz Park. There was a sizeable support for both teams which created a great atmosphere. Tubbercurry started the better and raced into an early three point lead. Coolera Strandhill steadied the ship and drew level with points from Alan Costello and Kieran Quinn. For the rest of the half both teams were tit for tat and Tubbercurry went in with the narrowest of leads at half time. In a tight and tense second half there was never more than a score between the teams. In the last five minutes Coolera Strandhill drew level with a point from Alan Costello. Both side tried in vain to get a winner but the final whistle brought an end to this entertaining match with the teams level at 0-11 each. Team was C. O’Mahony, E. Mitchell, K. Cooney, R. Doyle, D. Flynn, T. Waters, L. Bree, K. Quinn, N. Quinn, K. O’Neill, B. Doyle, K. Cawley, J. McPartland, A. Costello and A. McPartland. Subs used C. Mullen, S. Carty, F. Smith, C. O’Meara and N. Carew.

The replay is down to be played in Tourlestrane next Sunday at 2pm. All supporters are urged to come out and support the team.
