Friends of Dublin Hurling Presentation Dance:

The third annual FODH ‘Celebration of Dublin Hurling’ was held in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel on Friday night. The attendance included senior players, mentors from the senior, u21, various county squads, club representatives, the media and members of Friends of Dublin Hurling. Special guests on the night were the members of the 1965 all-Ireland Dublin minor hurling winning team and the Dublin u21 team that lost out narrowly in the 1967 final. Paul Collins of Today FM was MC for the night,

The Club was honored to be one of 3 clubs nominated for Senior Hurling Club of the Year along with Ballyboden St Endas and Na Fianna. This is a first for our club, even to be nominated, and is a fitting tribute to all the work that goes on from tiny tots to senior. A big hand to all our mentors, helpers, committees and supporters, for without their dedication we would not be where we are today.

The clubs that scooped the ‘Club of the Year’ awards were as follows:

Senior Club of the Year – Na Fianna

Intermediate Club of the Year – Thomas Davis

Junior Club of the Year – Good Counsel.

The senior ‘Hurler of the Year’ award for 2009 went to current all-star Alan McCrabbe and Cuala player, David Treacy, was voted ‘Young Player of the Year’.

Many thanks to all the members of FODH who voted for the player of the year awards.

The ‘Hall of Fame’ award for 2009 went to Na Fianna’s Jimmy Gray in recognition of his contribution to hurling in the county as a player, manager and administrator. Chairman of FODH, Michael O’Grady, presented this award to Jimmy, and congratulated all the winners on the night.
