Colmcille GFC Notes

Our Div 1B team drew with Carrickedmond (0-8 to 0-8) on Sunday last, 10th April. Team v. Carrickedmond: M. Kiernan, C. Brady, Podgie Murtagh, K. Reilly, F. Kavanagh, G. Murtagh, D. Mulligan, J.P. Reilly, E. Farrell, L. McKeon, N. Brady, P. McKeon, C. Kiernan, B. Mc Cabe, Paul Murtagh.

We will play Mostrim on Friday 15th in Devine Park at 7.15pm.

A reminder that the club and the Colmcille branch of St. Christopher’s are holding a 13K Lake View walk on April 30th. This is for a very worthy cause and we encourage all to participate. There will be alternative routes to accommodate all fitness levels. Cost of entry is €10 for adults and €5 for U16s. To register contact John Reilly at secretary.colmcille.longford.gaa.ie.

On Saturday 16th a Mr.  & Mrs Event will take place in Murtagh’s as part of the fundraising drive. This promises to be a great night’s entertainment and no doubt there will be more than a few revelations. There will be some very special guests on the night. It will all kick off around 9.30pm so be sure to be there early. All support will be greatly appreciated.

A sponsored cycle from Croke Park to Colmcille will take place on June 25th. More details and sponsorship cards can be obtained by contacting Joe Mulligan on 0868222150 or Shane McGauran on 087 9254868.

The Sunday morning walks continue as normal, leaving from the cross at 8.30am. Cycles also continue on Sundays as before. A Pilates class will commence in the meeting room at Mc Gee Park on Thursday 14th. The class will run for 6 weeks at a cost of €40.

A reminder that club membership is now overdue and must be paid as soon as possible.

There was no winner of the April 3rd lotto draw. The numbers drawn were 3, 9, 25, 30. Lucky Dip winners were: Peader Gormley, Sean Cooney, Anita Reilly and Killian Reilly. The jackpot is growing ever larger and now stands at €8,200. Envelops are available from all local shops or from any executive member. Yearly tickets may be purchased from John Flanagan or Frances Kennedy.

Congratulations and best wishes to Michelle Farrell, Aisling Reynolds and Aoife D’arcy in their upcoming soccer trials. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Gerard Mulligan, Clonback.

Finally commiserations to the county U21 team who were beaten in the Leinster Final. We congratulate them for representing the county with such distinction.
