Colmcille GFC Notes

November 8, 2018

Our senior team had their first competitive outing of the new season in Div.1 of the All County League against Abbeylara last Saturday in McGee Park.  This was a game where Colmcille were in control but the balance of the game tipped against us after the second half injury to Paul Treacy. Paul was putting in a very fine performance throughout the game but unfortunately he suffered a very bad injury and this proved the turning point in the game. We lost out by three points on a score line of 2-07 to 2-10. We would like to thank the Abbeylara medical staff for their assistance with the injury to Paul. We would like to send best wishes to Paul for a speedy recovery.

The Div.1 team will not be in action again until Saturday 9th April against Carrickedmond in McGee Park. The Reserve League 1 team will take on Mostrim in Mc Gee Park at 6.30pm while the Reserve League 3 team will play Emmet Og at 7pm in Emmet Park. Both games will take place on Saturday, 2nd April. The minors will play Carrick Sarsfields in the Special Minor League Div. 2 in Moran Park on Sunday, 3rd April at 12pm.

The Dublin/Longford Association will honour Pearse Daly at their Dinner Dance on 2nd April in the Moran Red Cow Hotel. Anyone interested in attending the event should contact John Reilly on 085-7322857 or Marie O’Reilly Keenan on 087-9032887.

The Operation Transformation walks will continue every Sunday morning, leaving from the Cross at 8.30am. Fr. McGee Park will also be open on Tuesday nights between 7.30 and 9.30pm.

The club, along with the Colmcille Branch of the Mentally Handicapped Association are holding a 13 kilometre Lake View walk on April 30th. This event is for a great cause and we hope that there will be huge support for the event. Anyone interested in taking part are asked to contact John Reilly (085-7322857). Preparations are also well under way for a cycle from Croke Park to Longford. More details later.
