Comlcille GFC notes

November 8, 2018

On Saturday last our Division 1 team welcomed Rathcline to Fr. McGee Park for the first round of the Longford Leader All County League. It was a very entertaining game with both sides producing some very good football. It took us some time to register our first score but after that the scores came freely. However Rathcline kept in touch all the way through the first half. At half time we lead by a point (0-6 to 0-5). We continued the good play in the second half getting four points in the first ten minutes but two goals from Rathcline were enough to deny us a victory. The game ended on a score line of 0-11 to 2-7

Team v. Rathcline: Mark Kiernan, Ciarán Brady, Mattie Kavanagh, Podge Murtagh, Paul Kennedy, Brian Brady, Gary Murtagh, Kevin Farrell, Francie Kavanagh, Anthony Gormley, Paul McKeon, J.P. Reilly, Paul Murtagh, Declan Farrell, Michael Kilbride.

Sub used: Niall Brady

The G.A.A. is compiling an Oral History of each club in the country. This will probably be our only opportunity to record the clubs history as told by the individuals who follow the G.A.A. We are looking for stories or memories that anyone has of the G.A.A. If anyone has anything they wish to contribute they can contact Shane Mc Gauran on 087 9254868 or e-mail smcgauran@hotmail.com

A reminder that membership fees must be paid as soon as possible to Cathal Hawkins or John Flanagan. The time for receipt of payment is nearly up. It is most important that all players have paid.
