Congrats to Donegal born club members

November 8, 2018

First and foremost, Congrats to all DONEGAL club members and fans,  and commiserations to all MAYO ones [of which there seems to be a surfeit].

SKGaa were successful on the pitches this week with wins by Jun A,U14,U12 footballers, Junior ladies Footballers and U9 camogiers.

The SKGaa Junior hurlers have astutely booked a bus for the Hurling replay and any club member who wishes to nab a seat for €13, better get in touch with Ger Mulholland on 0861283674 as fast as possible as it obviously has only limited capacity.

The Club Senior & Minor finals are set for SUNDAY 14th in Pearse Stadium… get out your flags.
No great explanation given re the late call-off / postponement of the U16A final v Moycullen…. and yet to be decided.

u14 footballers play Shield final this Thursday under lights in Loughgeorge…. check facebook before you travel. U13A and U13B both await confirmation of their County finals, as do the u12 hurlers of news of their final.

A number of home matches are on this week: The u10 hurlers play Killimordaly, the U8 play Moycullen, the u12 host st Vincents while the u11 are due to attend the Athlone tournament.

TWO Club FUNDRAISERS are pending:

  • easiest first...cash for clobber...no outlay at all. The Aras has yellow binbags that SKGAA Club are asking everyone to fill with recyclable clothes, sheets, towels, shoes etc and Cardboard boxes for filling with books [NOT magazines copies or journals] and drop to Aras by Wed Oct 10th. OR the Club will arrange pick-up….[volunteers here please!!] So, clear out your teenage kids outgrown clothes & uniforms, empty your own wardrobe of dubious fashion items, discard well-worn linen  from the press. Extol the feng shui virtues of extra closet space. Create more shelf room by discarding old holiday reads, tatty thrillers and outdated sports books.………and dump it down to the Aras. Give a bag or three to your neighbours and encourage spring-cleaning. The Club is paid by weight and all proceeds raised will be recycled in the Aras. End date here is Wed 10th Oct.
  • DUCK RACE: Vice-chair Peter O’Halloran is the brains behind this operation and he promises it’ll be quacking fun and eggsciting! The club will be racing ducks down river [well, canal strictly speaking]  on SUNDAY 7th October at 2pm from University bridge [opp College entrance] down as far as Monroes at Dominick St. One YELLOW duck costs a tenner but you get 5 ducks for €40. The fastest three yellow ducks get some decent prizes….. 2 nights & 1 meal in Regency Hotel Dublin, 1 Night in Station House Clifden or meal for two of €150 in White Gables, Slowest Duck gets €200 home heating oil voucher and there’ll be spot prizes [€200 oil] etc.Well done to Prionsias Kitt and Peter O’Halloran for sourcing these.  A BLUE business duck costs €50 or three for €100 and the winning Business gets a photo op. All team managers/coaches are asked to sponsor a GREEN Duck between themselves and the winning management team gets an annual Club Duck Trophy while the Club Exec members & directors are asked to sponsor RED ducks [is this colour significant??] and they get a photo op. The proceeds raised by the Duck Race will be divided [50/50]between the County final teams and all the juvenile codes.
