November 7, 2018

St Sylvester's GAA sends its congratulations and best wishes to 5 of our Juveniles who are now Members of the Dublin Team. Starting in 2016, Sean Downey, Ross Keogh, James Cotter, Ben Meehan and Jed Tormey took part in initial trials and have since made it through to successful selection. These boys put up strong performances for the County Team in first matches against Louth, Galway, Roscommon and Mayo. And on 12 August, they contributed strongly to an Inter-County Blitz in the Wicklow Centre of Excellence to win the Cup outright.

In their defeats of Offaly, Down, Meath and Kidare at the Blitz –

  • James Cotter commanded his defence with his usual authority
  • Sean Downey pulled off another penalty save to turn one defeat into a victory
  • Ross Keogh slotted over a series of frees with an efficiency that Dean Rock would be proud of

With Sylvester's players in such sparkling form, and with consistent performances from Ben and Jed also for this Squad, the future of Dublin football looks to be in safe hands . Great credit is due to the boys for their hard work, good skills and sheer determination to succeed. Credit also to their parents and to their dedicated Coaches – Anto Keogh, Mick Byrne, Fergal McStay, Derek Roche and Nicky Cleere
